The sane, moral person would look at these atrocites and put political beliefs aside to say that it was wrong. But there are Americans who are willing to allow the cover up so as to not hurt the US's reputation. Has these types of Americans reached a new low in morals all for political reasons?

I'm sorry so we shouldn't support our troops based on the actions of a few? If some one had told me that earlier I would have stopped supporting them.

Unfortuanely.. what was done by the troops is the standard operating procedure in Iraq. The first time I heard about this type of behavior was several years ago. A soldier that came out, and spoke against the war said his indoctrination was an evening ride on the Hum V.. they would see an Iraqi on the streets, shoot him and throw a shovel and Ak-47 at his dead body. Check out the links I provided, it is the same thing different dates.

"The first is the death of 11 Iraqis during an American raid near Balad in March. The dead included five children. The second inquiry involves seven US marines and a sailor in the death of an Iraqi civilian near Baghdad in April. It is believed the man was dragged from his home and shot before an AK-47 and a shovel were placed next to his body to make it look like he was an insurgent.

Some American veterans have expressed little surprise at the latest revelations. 'I don't doubt for one moment that these things happened. They are widespread. This is the norm. These are not the exceptions,' said Camilo Mejia, a US infantry veteran who served briefly in the Haditha area in 2003."

Im not sure I agree with your logic. Are you judging the entire military by the actions of a few?

If youve been in the service of your country for one day, you would know that our armed forces are full of outstanding courageous human beings from all walks of life.

When you are put in a forward zone, bad things happen, mistakes happen. I wasnt there so I cant comment on this situation but I know from first hand experience that bad things happen. No matter how much you love or disagree with the policies of your nation, you find yourself fighting for the members of your team, your platoon, your division.

Our men and women didnt ask to be put in harms way. They are following their orders. They have integrity and honor. Who are you to judge anyone? Please tell us what you have contributed to our nation? My guess is not a thing.

if you read the article - this person was court martialed and charged with murder. There are people that do wrong - and they aren't the whole of the US military forces. Your question is misleading. Yes, the actions of a few hurts the reputation of the US - and is definitely true here. But that's true in every war. War is horrible, people crack up. It happens in every war. If you don't think this kind of thing happened in WW2 you are mistaken. All kinds of things happened inWW2.

In any large organization, such as the military, you will have people commit crimes. Such is human nature. However, we do not support these criminal actions; we do support prosecuting and imprisoning soldiers like this.

There's no "cover-up", but there's no reason for it to be splashed across the headlines, either. This type of crime has happened in every army ever put in the field, in the history of mankind. In the West, we consider such actions to be criminal, as compared to the rest of the world.

Isolating the few abuses by military members is more appropriate than condemnning all of them because of the few who do wrong. Perhaps those who are quick to condem should spend a few days in 114 degree heat stomping around dusty areas and dodging bullets and bombs and see how they feel. I remember the difficulty in Nam separating the feelings for youngsters innocence when witnessing them shooting at us.

It was wrong and they should be punished accordingly. But that aside I still support our troops. How many are over there again? And you point out a few bad apples, for what reason other than our own pleasure

Yup we support all our troops. Since the terrorists and Iraqis don't fight by the rules why should we? I'd have no problem if we just went over there and started wiping out entire neighborhoods until they get the hint.

You are an Idiot. You point the minute number of bad troops but NEVER praise the overwhelming majority of Good Troops. All because you don't like America!

Charges were filed against them, so justice will be done. But that does not mean I will lesson my support of the troops or the important mission they are performing. If I used your logic, I would have to suspect all blacks of being criminals because there are black criminals. Again....no logic......next
