"Grud," as he is affectionately known, had an amazing Gold Glove season last year for a terrible KC team. .297 ba, 7 jacks, smacked 32 doubles, and led the squad with 85 runs. Plus, he was a 1996 all-star and once had 201 hits in a season.

No one is going to say he's the best 2B in the league, but he's very, very solid and clutch. Your thoughts on "Grud?"

I love the way the guy plays. I'm a big Royals fan and since we got him he's been the best clutch hitter we've had and the only consistently reliable bat on the team. He has a great glove at 2B and may very well walk away with another Gold Glove this year. He doesn't get the credit he deserves because he plays in Kansas City.

I liked him as an Exp, but I don't think he's much better than average. I know he hit .297 last season, but he also drew only 28 walks in over 550 plate appearances, which is why he had a very ordinary .331 OBP. Batting average can be deceiving when it's a player's only method of reaching base. This is a pattern that he's had for his whole career, and his .330 career OBP is nothing special.

He's always been a good fielder and one of those "hustling" players. If you're looking for a guy to fill a spot in the lineup and not hurt the team, he's not a bad choice. But with only 85 career homers and a slugging percentage under .400, there are plenty of better options.
