Gasoline burns at the same rate regardless of how much fuel is in the tank. You will get less miles per gallon when the tank is full due to the extra weight on the car. Especially larger cars and SUV 's that have large fuel tanks. The less gas in the tank, the better the fuel mileage.

Huh??? Why should that affect it? The fuel burns in the cylinders, not in the tank. There's no way for the cylinder to know the state of the fuel in the tank.

No. Your gas gauge often doesn't change after you fill a car up for 50-75 miles. Then your gauge starts going down making it appear that the car didn't use hardly any gas the first bit of driving.
