the price of owning a home is also on the rise, and I am sure there are millions of people who are sick or renting. So along with making sure everyone has healthcare, why not ensure that everyone has a home?

In fact, why don't 100% of our tax dollars support every single American rich or poor? does that sound like a good idea or do I sound as delusional and misinformed as some of these libs?

A house is not as important as Universal Health Care. Owning a house is a choice, you could just as easily rent a house, rent an apartment, own a trailor ect Live in a hotel for all I care. None of that matters if you get sick and cant go to the doctor or hospital.

Sure I cant afford to buy a home yet but Im not really old enough to worry about that, Just got married ect want to save for a LONG time before I even begin to think about buying a house. But healthcare is a huge issue. Personally I cant get health insurance in the states because of pre-exsisting conditions...thousands upon thousands of americans have the same problem.

Insurance companies are picking and choosing who is eligable for coverage and who isnt based on so many factors (weight, smoking, drinking, genetics ect). Doctors are refusing to see patients who do not have insurance unless they can pay enormously huge fees beforehand (many of these people cant afford to do that and if they could they would be paying the $300-$500+ a month for private insurance). Many companies (restuarants, fast food service, grocery stores, shopping mall shops ect) make sure thier employees work just under the limit so that they do not have to provide them with insurance at all so thier only option is private insurance which is extremely costly and usually people workng those jobs are lucky if they are making $1.00 over minimum wage.

People have a fundamental right to be healthy, I would rather pay the hundreds of dollars towards preventative care of something than the thousands of dollars to treat it once it has happened and given time to get worse.

Oh yeah and for so many people who seem to think that universal healthcare covers everything it doesnt alway. I am currently living in a country where they have health care and I still have to pay for some things only its no where near what it would be without it.

First off, nobody has ever suggested universal health CARE....though it's been called that. What's been suggested is universal health INSURANCE. Universal health insurance could easily be accomplished...everyone pays in something and everyone is covered. Of course there would be the usual co-pays and deductables but in the end doctors and hospitals, which would remain private, would be assured of getting paid without all the hassles that the current system is prone too. Why anyone would object to a system that costs less per person and covers everyone is a real mystery. Since you pay for the uninsured now anyway, this would be a way for everyone to pay a fair share. There's no downside to having insurance, but believe me, there's no upside to not having it. Also, health INSURANCE, and home ownership are two seperate issue...one has nothing to do with the other. All issues have to be judged on their own merit. Last, the non-existant 'libs' are a propaganda strawman.....strawman and red herring arguments are nonsense....stay focused on reality!

I would be all for a solution to healthcare similar to housing shelters...you know they exist, right? Housing pretty much IS guaranteed. As far as a conservative argumenbt, we already ARE paying for people's healthcare, much more than we should, since they use the emergency rooms. An Ounce of prevention... BTW, 100% of our tax dollars DO help the rich and the poor...they just don't do crap for the middle class

You are comparing apples and oranges...you can live without owning a home, but not without healthcare. if you don't like it, don't vote for the people supporting it. I, on the other hand would rather see our tax dollars supporting Americans than Arabs. We are the only industrialized country without universal health care

You are already paying for healthcare for everyone...the only way for you to stop paying for that is to have the the hospitals refuse treatment for anyone without the means to pay.... I really dont understand this whole arguement......no one goes to a hospital for care and is turned away... those costs are recouped by charging the rest of us more....

Universal housing is already exist. "Home ownership" is extinct, pay for your house, pay off your mortgage the government is the rightful owner. Think not? Don't pay your taxes...and see who is the owner.

great idea. instead of blaming libs why not work on solutions? our tax dollars do support us all In various ways. not 100% of support, but still our tax dollars do benefit us all. why not look at how our tax dollars are being wasted on all levels,it has little to do with dems/repubs
