Yep, we always get it off if that is a holiday that you normally would get off in your job... but if you work in a profession that is normally open on those holidays (i.e. healthcare, fast food) then you will work unless you specifically request off or that's your normal off day.
That stinks for you! What a weird law! But, at least you have off monday.

At my office, we have a five-day work week and we get off for July 4. If it falls on a weekend, we get the adjacent weekday off. So if July 4 is a Saturday, we get Friday off; if it's a Sunday, we get Monday off. This is pretty typical, but not universal. I don't know exactly how it would work for someone who has Sunday as a usual workday; they probably get July 4 itself, the Sunday, as a vacation day.

It's a legal holiday here, but whether you have it off if it falls on a sunday depends on the type of job you have. If you're a a cop, for example (since they work 24/7, 365 days a year) they may be required to work on sunday. they may not be full-staffed, but they would have to work that day.

Yes i have to, but like the federal agencies, like the post office will be closed, but I will get holiday pay and my regular pay for having to work on that day.
