I was similar in school - I had a lot of acquaintances but few really close friends, and yes a lot of the friendships did end after high school. But, then I went to college and made friends there, and then I started working and made friends there. So, although it is nice to have friends from your past who know you well, you will continue making new friends throughout your life!

Life is Change, Maybe you Will...even if you Try to Write or Call.
More Friends are Out there...College, Work, Clubs, Groups, will all let you Meet New People, with Your Interests.
I only Contact 2 People I knew in HS, and know the Whereabouts of 3-4 others. I usually keep as Friends about 1-2 from a Workplace, or Club. I'm never Alone, unless I want to Be....and Even Then (Invasion of the Friend with a Problem)...:-P

This one is easy. To have a friend, you must be a friend. Sure, there will be disappointments along the way, but charge that up to experience. To be a friend is easy. Be interested in the other person and above all respect the other person. If the other person is not interested in you, find another. Never give up and don't worry. Friends are easy to come by, but the number of close friends will be small. That will come over time, be patient. Most people have less than 6 real close friends. Many people have hundreds of friends, but not close. It seems your problem is the close type. Be very selective and patient.

But when you get out of high school, you'll make NEW friends. For that matter, you'll make new friends DURING high school as well. So I wouldn't worry about that.
In any case, the best way to make friends is this: get involved. Join clubs. Play sports. Volunteer. Get involved with your community. The more things you are involved with, the more people you will meet with similar interests to you. The more people you meet, the more friends you will likely have.
Good luck!
