Phil, I hate to tell this, bud, but so-called 'grunge' had nothing to do with what's being called 'emo' nowdays. The Seattle scene in the late 80's- early 90's pretty much embraced several genres to make the music that was coming out of there, which was mainly punk, metal, and garage rock. What they call 'emo' today is not true emocore like Rites of Spring, Embrace, etc....it's just MTV dreck.

Oh, and Cobain blew his head off because he was adrug addict and had a mysterious chronic stomach ailment that he could not get relief for. The more he hurt, the more herion he took...which obviously made him even more depressed.

According to "The Hyperactivity Hoax" Cobain suffered from chronic stomach pains. He was treated for ADHD through out his childhood based on his behavior and undiagnosed stomach condition. Medicating a child for ADHD that does not need it (as we are lead to believe was the case for Mr. Cobain) can lead to chemical balance problems later in life. Also, being in constant nagging pain can and will induce depression. Based on that information we can surmise that Kurt did drugs first and for-mostly for pain management/avoidance. Add on the pressures of marriage, parenthood, and fame, then it is no surprise that he shot himself.

I would say that it was bcuz of drugs, depression, and the pressure of being in the spotlight 24/7. Kurt never wanted to be famous, he just wanted to make music and play it.

He probably had some mental illnesses, but being that he never really sought help for it and didn't really get diagnosed, we'll never know. It IS known that he suffered from depression and a stomach disorder that may have contributed to his problem, but there is no way to 100% understand what happened. It's too late now.
