Most cars have the correct weight marked on the oil filler cap.

As for synthetic oil causing a leak, that used to happen occasionally in older engines back in the days when the detergent additives in oil weren't very good, and would allow sludge to build up and seal a gasket that might otherwise leak. The synthetic oil would clean out the sludge and expose the leak. It's not a problem anymore because, with modern oils, engines stay much cleaner inside.

The engine has lasted this long with conventional engine oil. Do not change brands now. Continue with the manufacturer's recommendations. Keep the oil clean & enjoy many more years of motoring.

a blend would not "cause" a leak....but syn and semi syn blends tend to be thinner...many are 5w or even 0w.... if u switch try a special high miliage oil most co's have come out with...10w 30 in winter and 20 w 40 in summer...
