I watch this move maybe some 20 years ago and I cannot remember its name.

The movie is about a black helper having a girl baby, but I beleive the girl father was white, so she has very fair skin and she and her mother moved in with a white family who her mother was going to work for as a helper. The family also had a white little girl the same age as her daughter.

The little girl hated the fact that everyone though she was black because her mother was black and this affected her behavior and action throughout her life. It was only when her mother died did she realised how much her mother meant to her. The actress who played her mother was a famous black actress, and the movie is a vintage one about 1950-1960. I am wondering if you ever watch it. I want a copy of it. It is the best mother's day movie I ever saw and it is tearing me up inside that I dont know its name.

Can you help?

This sounds like Imitation of Life with Lana Turner. Sandra Dee played her daughter and Juanita Moore is the Black housekeeper. The housekeeper's daughter was played by some one I dont remember.
