don't seem to know that Childline exists?

Childline is a volunteer councelling service for kids. They can call the free phone number and get free confidential advice, and also talk to someone who will listen to them.
I only asked the question because so many kids post their problems on yahoo answers..... and none of them seem to have heard of childline.

When i was young Childline was advertised everywhere even the number was in the phonebox but now no one advertises it when children can get to see it, if a child is being abused its not going to get time to what the tv and thats the only place it advertises it now, it needs to be promoted at schools and hospitals.

Not sure about this, as all school pupils are told about Childline in Citizenship and PSHE/L4L lessons. It is heavily promoted and supported in every school I have been into in recent years and many students are directed towards this valuable service by both teachers and school counsellors. Unfortunately, many youngsters prefer to remain obviously blind to the blindingly obvious.

I don't know. Perhaps, a lot of adults are trying to keep them from that information. Heaven forbid they have a way to defend themselves against abuse!

It has run out of funding and while it still is operating, I dont think it has the money to advertise itself.
