The confederate flag is a symbol of the old south. Some people associate it with slavery and the KKK, but I think the reason most people like to display it is to show what part of the US they are from.

I see it as significant of an important part of American history and a history of a country that lasted only a short time, that had a lot of really screwy beliefs and ideals, but that had some very admirable leaders.

I lived in the south for a while and so I know that to most southerners it just stands for southern pride. But then again, to others, it is a symbol standing for racism, bigotry and hate...

To me, it means pride in the brave men who fought for the Confederacy. While I do not agree with the cause for which they fought, I admire their bravery. They were Americans too.

It stands for the struggle that the people of that era went through daily trying to express their beliefs right or wrong,and the people who died defending their beliefs.Also the start of the greatest nation ever born to this world.
