Is there any adjustment on the wipers on my 2002 Civic? They slap the bottom of the windshield one minute. Then the left one is slapping the left side of the windshield. In rare moments they go from inside the bottom of the glass to the side frame, but this doesn't usually last very long. They are the most erratic thing I have ever seen on any car. Admittedly this is the weakest link on the entire car. It is great-gets 34 mpg going to work. Thankfully this is only annoying when it rains.

Sounds like you need new blades and the wipers adjusted. Most wiper systems have a screw that holds the wiper arms tight. when that slips, the wipers can get out of adjustment. That screw is there to loosen the arm in case the wipers are stuck by ice or snow. That way it will still allow the wiper motor to function and keep the other blade working, and not burn up the motor. good luck.
