I just got home from vacation. My car has been sitting for 16 days to be exact and I left very LOW gas in it before I left (I thought this would help in case someone tried to steal it while I was gone..). And now my car won't start up. Could this be due to having no gas?? It was working just fine before I left.

Fully charge the battery. Inspect all wiring for rodent damage. For some reason they love nibbling on wiring & hoses. If all OK add another couple of gallon of fuel & try starting.

It depends. Does the starter turn the engine or not? Do the control lights get on? If it does simply nothing when turning the key most probably the battery is empty. It is also possible that some kind of small animal bit some cables. It is also possible that you're out of gas. A gallon should get you to the next station to fill it up again. If it is a dieses engine it might be possible that you also need to get the air out of the system if it ran out of diesel.

Your battery is probably run down, take it to the garage, and they can test it for you.
If you belong to AAA, they will give you a boost, or if a friend or neighbor has jumper cables, try them to get it started
