Whilst I believe the majority of muslims in Britain are not hard core terrorists, I am the only person puzzled by the lack of condemnation from high ranking influential clerics and muslim support groups. I am sure if this kind of thing was being perpertrated in another country by British terrorists, the British people would be the first to stand up and march in protest of these vicious attacks. Maybe some kind of action of this type would help moderate muslims intergrate a little better in our society....or maybe they secretly back these hardliners!!!

It is very strange because in western nations, muslims have freedom of speech to condemn, in muslim nations they dont have that freedom, because they cant speak in the face of terrorists. So why arent british muslims taking advantage of their freedom to condemn? Could it be because they agree with the terrorists, or they are afraid?

Imagine if a christian committed a terror attack, All of britans muslim population would be in RAGE. They would commit massive protest, denounce anything that has to do with christianity.

Don't we remember the danish cartoon conflict. Tisk tisk.

Muslims all over the world are not condemning it,

-i think you can't condemn something that is written in your holy book, and taugh to you by your prophet, & your parents.

I'm confused about the latest events in UK. At some point I've heard that two of the so called terrorist were asian. I understand that there are asian muslims but I haven't heard of those groups being related to Al Quaeda.

The government claimed that Al Quaeda was taking the same car bombs used in Baghdad to UK. But the insurgent movement in Iraq is not related to Al Quaeda and they don't use propane tanks.

And this is from facts. Now from just common sense:

Why would the terrorists use propane tanks? At least it doesn't make sense to me. Of course, it's a dangerous thing, you can hurt people badly. But it's a poor choice. The tank itself absorbs most of the energy of the explosion. Some debris will fly, and I understand that some are going to be like bullets, but not that much. Adding nails won't help much, the wave won't be strong enough to push them too far. It's going to be a huge ball of fire and not too hot. Again, I want to state that I understand how dangerous it is and that people can get hurt and kill by doing this. I'm saying that it doesn't make sense as a terrorist attack. Even liquid fuel is a better alternative.

Plus, it's amazing how the terrorists seem to pick the right moment for the UK government. All the attacks come at the most politically convenient time. More amazing is how fast the story fade away. I'm still waiting for the conclusion of the "liquid bomb" investigation. I do, I swear. I want to know how you can take down a huge aircraft with a bottle of peroxide.
It has to be something extremely complicated if the scientist are still working on this...

How do are the average muslim going to know it was muslim that done it if they have no links to alqueda??
Why would the average muslim trust the british goverment after lebanon?
How would the average muslim trust the goverment after going into iraq with false evidence?
If i was a muslim i would be very suspicious of the british goverment.
Iam not a muslim iam a white british national and i dont trust the goverment
the muslim council have come out and condemed these atrocites.
I dont trust the goverment i believe they are trying to cause as much trouble as they can to take away are freedoms.
Yes i do think there people out there who like to bomb our country that is the nature of going to war you bomb them they bomb us simple lodgic.
But i think 9/11 was a fraud after 7/7 was a fraud
And afettr seeing the picture of a man in a flame resistant suit being calmly hosed down by an off duty police officer on the frontof the mirror i have my doubts about this to.
So if i find this hard to belive iam sure there are plenty of muslims who feel the same way.

terrorist isn't in basic terms muslims. This makes me very offended as quickly as I pay attention this. How with regard to the universities of the Americas? Are they no longer terrorists? They kill harmless human beings of their and different international places. Muslims are actually not all terrorists. there are a number of others. in simple terms because of the fact somebody has olive colored epidermis, dark hair and eyes, have an entire grown beard and have a recognition like hussein or mohammed does not recommend that they seem to be a terrorist. recover from those assumptions and picture approximately it. If somebody is an extremist and kills human beings for no obvious reason then particular they seem to be a terrorist. I dont care in the event that they're asian, american, hispanic, black, white... in the event that they KILL FOR THE SAKE OF no longer something they seem to be a TERRORIST... no longer because of the fact they're muslim.

Hello, it's an excellent question. Of course, muslims are not terrorists, no one see the reasons behind, for example, Iraqi people did not come to attack States or Britian, but the United States (including Britian who is backing up Bush) is the one who entered in Iraq and have had established a worse example of terrorism in the world's history. Why Americans and Britian people dont call this terrorism? Read what the world says:

Actually, I heard on the news that a contingent of Muslims clerics and leaders came out and condemned the attack publicly within 24 hours of the first attack.

The majority of Muslims may well not be hard core terrorist, but a lot of them do not disagree with them, that's why none of them are standing up and shouting their condemnation regarding these religious extremists, believe me all Muslims are fundamentalists at heart, and would like to see our country convert to Islam. The Cleric's all preach the word of the Koran in their own way, unfortunate for us Christian, Catholic, Jews and other faith we are the infidels, and as preached in the Koran, our deaths means Muslim glory for the Muslim believers. We should either ban the religion, or remove all who support the Islamic faith, that way can protect all other faiths in this country and protect the life's of honest god fearing people.

They're too scared of their own people, especially the clerics. A public display of condemnation would single them out and mark them as 'pro-western', despite the fact that they've chosen to live in the west, or where born here.
It's a sad fact that even if the community [of Muslims] knew of fundamentalist activities, that community is unlikely to give them up.

Dave W, I was busy moaning about Bush on another posting to do with the Postal Strike in Britain the other week and how he was to blame for that, and the floods in Yorkshire.
But you are right, Bush is to blame for moderate Islamic Clerics not standing up and condemning the recent terrorist threats in the UK
