The list I have heard says twelve:
Hearing,
Sight,
Chemical (taste and smell),
Pressure,
Vibration,
Proprioception (limb position),
Kinesthesia (balance),

Ok, there are 5 main groups, some people would argue "The 6th" or "gut feeling" is actually the result of the subconcious mind evaluting the information given by the previous 5, in a different manner to immediate perception.
I see many people citing one sence as 5, balance is touch, we have fluid in our brains making it possible, pheromones are smell etc etc, if you want to get really specific there are closer to hundreds if you analyse every nerves capabilitys.
The classic 5 are true, and the others can be placed within them, making it apt.

How many senses do we have?
It's not just the traditional five.
1. sight (visual sense)
2. hearing (auditory sense)
3. smell (olfactory sense)
4. taste (gustatory sense)
5-8. touch: The skin senses
Because touch involves four different sets of nerves, the skin senses are considered four separate senses:
5. heat
6. cold
7. pressure
8. pain
9. motion (kinesthetic sense)
10. balance (vestibular sense)

There are only 5 real senses, we take for granted the power of our senses in day to day use.
(like the previous 'answer' all the extra ones listed are just a small part of what the main five can alredy do!)
If you look at what actualy happens biologicaly you can see what is what.
For example,
Limb perception, the reason you know where you arms and legs are is because at all times they are using mucles to move, your peception of this is just learnt over many years of moving about.
Heat, cold, Pain etc these are all classified under touch nerve endings in the skin respond to climate conditions and send signals to your brain to do something about it, it is similar to hunger.

According to Britannica, studies in skin sensitivity alone "yield evidence that the human senses number more than five." How can that be? Certain functions once lumped together under touch are now regarded as senses in their own right. For instance, pain receptors respond to and distinguish between mechanical, thermal, and chemical forces or agents. Other sensors signal an itch. Evidence suggests that we have at least two kinds of pressure sensors—one for light surface pressure, another for deep stimulation.
Our body also has a broad range of internal senses...

I believe there is only 5 senses (sight, hearing, smell, touch(feel) and taste). Anything else,e.g heat is the sense of feeling.
