NBC was going to cancel the show due to low ratings and the fact that it never gets nominated for Emmys, but DirecTV knew that the show had a small but loyal fanbase and decided to pick it up.

If you can't switch to DirecTV, you can still read in depth daily summaries of the show on http://www.soapoperafan.com/passions I read that site when I'm at work and have missed the show, and I swear the amount of detail in the recaps makes me feel like I watched it myself!

But you also might want to look into getting a TV in your own room and getting DirecTV installed on just that television-- if you really love the show that much. Your parents can keep their cable, and you can get a dish. DirecTV actually offers a lot of channels that cable does not, such as the newly launched Ovation, which is an Arts Channel that features a lot of dance programming.

Good luck!

NBC cancelled the show. DirectTV showed interest and decided to pick it up after they were able to sign most of the current actors. DirectTV will have Passions exclusively so your correct no internet shows or pod casts etc.
I am like you, sad that I will not be able to continue to watch it, but updates will still be available at Soap Opera Digest, so that is how I will follow what is happening.
But if DirectTV had not done this, Passions would be completely gone, so we should be thankful it isnt!

A show has to be worth its salt in order to receive sponsors (like Kellogg, Huggies, Crest, Betty Crocker, prescription drugs and other advertisers), those ads are how NBC make their $, without them, shows get canceled. A sponsor is not going to waste $ running commercials on a show that people aren't watching....like Passions, so NBC has no choice but to cancel it.

Television = business = $.

For you and the other fans I am truly sorry that NBC has canceled your show. I only watch Days of Our lives.

A lot of people (including me) have tried to send emails but it is too late. Thankfully I already have DirecTV and I am really sorry for all of the people who don't have it. Try to talk to your parents again. Good Luck!

You are old enough to get a job and move out. Then you can get your own Direct TV. But in order to get a job, I think you have to be able to SPELL.!!!!!!!
