Why not? They ask the gov't to fix things because they don't want to pay for the fixing themselves.

You are correct.
The U.S. started relying on the government in the 1930's, and since then politicians have gone to great lengths to convince people that more government (read: more power in the hands of politicians paid for by our tax dollars) is the solution to all of society's ills.
This dependent entitlement crazy class of citizens is pathetic, and is going to end up bankrupting our country. If you don't believe me, wait until the baby boomer's Social Security and Medicare bill comes due in the next couple of decades.

I think theyfeel the government owes them something now. In an ideal world we could live off the land and if the need arose there is always the barter system. The natives had the right idea

People that expect the government to fix everything are products of the public education system which had produced drones of the liberal mantra. In other words very few are able to break through the liberal cloud and think and do for themselves.

Which people? I don't ask the government to fix anything. Neither does my wife now that I think of it. She has me to fix stuff.

People who want the government to do EVERYTHING for them are called Socialists, Communists and Marxists, not Ameicans.

Because some people are so stupid, they are too lazy to fix things for theirselves... so they expect someone else to do it for them and the government is easy to blame... that's why we have FEMA... god bless them.
