Some idiot somewhere started this whole "you can't fight a war with bombs on an ideology" thing . I suppose that some thought 'Hey , that's clever , and probably right' . But it's DEAD-wrong .
What some people don't seem to grasp is that this is a religious war , at least in the minds of the Terrorists . And there is NO negotiating . They've clearly stated their objectives and they're clearly carrying out the means to affect those objectives . They don't call for negotiations , they list absolute demands . Convert to Islam or Die . Sounds pretty damn clear to me !!
Changing an ideology may be possible. . . . over generations , but in the mean time we must use the only thing that has any effect on these Evil people. . . . . .
And that 'one thing' is bombs , not Crayons . and if any of you want dialogue , then just go to a prison that is holding imprisoned terrorists . You can have all the dialogue you want .
Do You Think Terrorism Can be Stopped , Or Will It End In Disaster ?

Lamont - Again a 'nice' thought , but entirely unrealistic . and besides , you devoted 90% of your post to attempting to identify what you consider to be other terrorists in history .
You then closed with 'Other Options'. . . . .BUT OFFERED NONE . There's a reason for that Mr. Lamont . There are no OTHER OPTIONS !!!

The same moron who came up with the quip is following the same group of people who are seeking to destroy our Western culture, our identity and ideology, they are using the media to accomplish their goal because they know bombs will not currently work, they are saving that for later when we revolt against Marxism in this government, and they will use bombs on us to secure their control and power over us and our freedom.
I find it always amusing with sayings like this, they never, ever, offer an alternative. We are not fighting an ideology. We are fighting men who possess this insane ideology, and when they are all dead the ideology dies with them. So in that sense, bombs work very well, as well as 7.62 or 5.56mm projectiles traveling over 2800 fps.

Well for me I can definitely say that I favor music that is a bit "catchy" and contains elements that I can grasp unto. I don't mean catchy as in a hook or a looping chorus but rather a certain sound or genre-specific thing that my mind can latch unto and groove to.Sludge Metal for example has the "heaviness" factor and slow, crunchy sound that I found I have liked ever since my first few listens to Black Sabbath. I'm not just going to listen to a song because I like the lyrics or the drums sections is prolific or other reasons that people have listed as to why they listen to a certain song. Other than that my taste is pretty varied but I am only 19 so it is still very much developing and progressing. Right now, I'm open to just about anything. I'm not really set on any particular ideology or anything of that sort. Whatever sounds good I'll bump it. BQ: Black Sabbath System of a Down Bone Thugs n Harmony Parokya ni Edgar Eraserheads

This "belief" is a manifestation of the eight years of the Clinton Administration. They need still to justify our non-efforts during his eight years of service. Since Clinton didn't do anything after terrorists attacked WTC the FIRST time, our embassies in Africa and put a huge hole in the side of a Navy ship near Yemen, we can't do anything NOW.
You could ALSO add that these people aren't going to approve any military action until a democrat is in office because these people feel that only a democrat can establish democracies the "right" way. Granted, there are NO examples of this in the last 40 years.
JFK/LBJ failed to establish a democracy-by-force in SE Asia (Vietnam) due to them embracing an obsolete model - the FDR/Truman model which requires COMPLETE destruction from which the people build their democracy. Clinton, were he the president the dims wanted him to be, could have done this, but his interests lay in getting his knob polished by an intern while he was 'working' and Hitlary was nowhere to be seen.
One OTHER thing! We are STILL fighting a "War on Poverty" here in the U.S! When will THAT war end? When will the villains who are "fighting" that war throw their hands up into the air? *laughter*

"What some people don't seem to grasp is that this is a religious war , at least in the minds of the Terrorists ."
I would speculate there's not been a religious war *ever* that was actually all about religion. A religous war is a war in which a governing group of people use religion to convince the populus they should fight, while the ulterior motive is in fact something else altogether - some form of powerplay.

Most wars have always been fought over ideology! Or those that haven't still have their own ideology in bedded into their acts of war. Nixon proved that we could Bomb Hanoi to the negotiating table, bombs not crayons are an effective means of pressuring the enemy for diplomacy

We fought an ideology when we fought the Nazi's, Fascist's, and Imperialist Japanese.
We must fight the ideology of expansionist mohammedanism. Their goal is the annihilation of Israel, Jews, and Christians, and Western Culture.
They are not moved by our attempts to appease them, they see our love for Human Life, and Freedom as a sign of our weakness. Democracy, Free Speech, and Freedom of Religion is Anathema to them.
We can only fight them, we cannot be at Peace with them. They understand Force, and Mercy isn't a Word in their Lexicon.

You don't understand the issue. They are not trying to convert the world to islam. it can be stopped, however those other people are right. You can no more wage war on terrorism than you can on greed, or poverty or hate. These are ideas, emotions, concepts. Etc. You can wage war against germany. You can't wage war against an idea. Not using the military anyway. You can't bomb away feelings and ideas. You need to look at the cause. Why do people come to the idea of terrorism as a solution to thier problems? Address that cause by whatever means you can.
We have been fighting a war on drug abuse for the past 30 years. How has that been going? we continue to arrest people selling it, people buying it, we burn fields, and arrest people growing it. Yet drug use persists just as much if not more so than it did 30 years ago. Why? We don't address the cause.
If you were sitting in a boat that was sinking, would you declare war on water or work on fixing the leak? Maybe you need to get people to bail water while you fix the leak.. but if you just sit there and bail water, you will be at it forever and the boat will continue to sink.
When it comes to terrorism, the military won't work. You can't fix a broken watch with a sledge hammer. You need precision work. The fight against terror should focus on intelligence and law enforcement combined with trying to address the global causes that lead people to enlist with terrorists.

WWII didn't ened the ideaology of the finale solution or Japan's dominace over the Pacific Ocean
I know is sounds great in the class room but the real world bites. We have to face we either go after what is killing us or it will kill us.
It is like cancer treatments. They are rough as hell but the alternative is far worse.
We don't like to be uncomfortable but we are going to be a whole more in pain if we don't confort it now.

I agree. What the liberals and pacifists preach looks good on paper but pretty useless in practice. You cant negotiate with fanatics, this is proven in history. They use unspeakable violence on their own people and I believe its what the best respond to. The world was more appalled with the US over Abu gra than they were the beheading of American captives.
We need to take a note from Shermans book on war. Total war, total destruction, no quarter. War is an ugly business and our troops need to have the freedom to wage it properly. The more destruction we can bring to the enemies doorstep, the faster this madness will end. Just my opinion...

Americans are living a pretty damn good life because we helped eliminate Nazi Germany and genocidal Japan. There goes their freakin' theory. In fact, Germans and the Japanese are living better lives because of it.
It won't stop for Israel or the US until we stop worrying about world opinion and take care of business. The rest of the self-righteous world will always find fault no matter what. We're just prolonging the misery for everyone. Take care of business.
