Me and my sister are always getting the feeling of being watched or followed, it happens any time of day. We also hear occasional thumps at night, footsteps, and sometimes heavy breathing that seems to be right next to us or across the room. Are there any explanations for this such as just our imagination, or possibly a ghost or spirit?

The house is relativly new but it was built mid forest in a big field, there is a church about a football field away, its my parents, my brother and me and my sister.

Well, you are not the only one! I have read and study so many books adout this matter, that I have created my own theory ...
Do ghosts exist? Of course they do. Why else would tens of thousands of people from all nations around the world and all periods in human history report seeing them under more or less similar circumstances? The question you should be asking yourself is, granted that ghosts exist -- what are they?
The most important thing to know about ghosts is that they are not the souls of dead people returned to communicate with the living. Dead is dead. Unless you believe in the reincarnation of the lower soul with the memories of its past lives intact, there is no coming back (I do not believe in the reincarnation of the personality and memory).
Neither are ghosts physically present when you see them. They are present in the astral world which always overlaps the physical world. You see a ghost when, for various reasons, the separation between the two levels of reality becomes very thin.
So, you should clear up if what you and your sister are always hearing is truth or just a product of imagination......

Well, does it happen often? Like on a regular basis? Do you have religious beliefs? Are you Christian? If so, I have found putting cruxifices where the most activity occurs usually solves the problem. Have a priest bless your house.
There are two reasons why this many be happening to you.
1. Something happened in the house and the ghost is attached to the house.
2. You are suseptable to spirits and they follow you. Meaning that no matter where you are, if there is a presence, you are likely to get some indication of it.
Im more number two than one. Have you tired putting a tape recorder where things are happening? Or a movie camera where you see or hear things?

More details. House or apartment. Old or new. Live alone or with parents. Anyone else have this?
Ok...now I;m thinking you possibly have a spirit of some sort, especially because of the church. Go to the local library and look through newspaper articles and maybe look into the local history. You will be looking for perhaps sudden deaths or even a local plague or some such ordeal. Have fun with this. Sounds really interesting.

I don't know what to say I mean I want to say keep salt with u cuz on supernatural the show ghosts can't get near salt but the I also want to sat that I'm glad ur moving out and that if it doesn't happen again in ur new house then get something checked up with ur old house and that if u see or feel anything wrong in ur new house then get to ur dad or a freiend that u trust the most quickly oh and I do want to say that I don't believe in ghost and you should tell ur self that and I think u should really try to do something while ur sleeping , like keep the door opened I don't know how u will get rid of it or if there really is a ghost but I say to look it up on google

Sounds as if you have something going on in your house. I lived in an apartment in Chicago, it was built in the 1960's there was a building there before that was knocked down for the apartments. Shortly after moving in I began to feel like someone or something was watching me, out of the corner of my eye I would see something move quickly, like when I would leave out of the bedroom and go into the living room. I kept ignoring everything and a few weeks later I got a cat. She would sit and stare down the hall towards the bedroom as if watching something, or she would run out of the bedroom like someone was chasing her. At night I would close my bedroom door so the cat could not bother me. Every time I closed my door there would be loud constant knocking. It would wake me up always at 2:32 in the morning. Everything seemed centered around the bedroom. Things got worse until one night I yelled out "you are dead, this is my house, you need to go". I never had a problem after that. Of course I moved into a condo shortly after this. So try yelling at the "ghost" sometimes they don't know they are dead and need to move on. Good luck

Yes there are explanations for those phenomena, none of which are supernatural.
No, it definitely was not a ghost or spirit; except in the sense that you and your sister have spirited imaginations.
It also may be that you are in fact being watched or followed. You could have a stalker. Perhaps the NSA is watching you. Although I can't imagine what good purpose they would have for it. It seems implausible that you could be a security risk if you don't know the difference between "Me and my sister" and My sister and I."

There are people who can feel the other world, you noticed I said feel and not see. I have been blessed in not seeing things but I feel them. With breathing I would began to read the bible and talk to a Christian preacher or priest, for if it be demonic you will need help. First depend on yourself and your sister for what is right.

It really doesn't matter how old or young the house is...anyone can have a spirit watching over them. It may very well be a dead relative watching over and protecting you. It doesn't sound like it's gonna hurt you...so just enjoy the show!! Talk to it, try to get it to communicate with you.

haha ...... this situation looks like your house is well magnetised ....... sometimes the position of the house is such that its iron and steel objects get magnetised ( science of feng shui) ...... in such a case the person who is present in the house gets a feeling of utter lonliness and in more sensitive cases these magnetic fields sort of "possess" your mind ...... if your mind is sensitive enough then you may have a feeling of being watch .... being touched ..... or even hearing stufff ........ so thats the case wid yuo ..... you are scared so your surrounding manage to scare you even more

No such thing as ghosts. It's your imagination.
Same as UFO's.
Ghost's are as real as John Edwards TV show when he talks to the dead.
Maybe you got some rodents in the house or a trapped bird.
