He will try. The house of cards has already fallen. They fell on over a hundred American troops last week. (dead and wounded)

Now that the US/UK are already in Iraq, a sensible exit strategy needs to be considered (properly, this time!) and put into place. If not, a power vacuum will envelop the region leading to even more death and destruction.
Some people believe it's best to just get out and leave them to it
Iraq ia a very thorny issue. Whatever happens it won't be resolved by the next elections, so it looks like Hillary will inherit this particular hot potato

Either way, if Bush is winding down Iraq or not, the next candidate for presidency will be running on a platform of withdrawl from Iraq. If Bush starts the withdrawl, the next president will take the credit for it. If Bush doesn't, the next president will start it and get credit for it.

That is what he plans to do. It the same thing that happened to Nixon and Vietnam (prior presidents) passed to the next so they could make the decision to pull out of a bad situation.
If the Republicans were interested at all, they would get this cleaned up well before election time. At this point every plan they have tried has failed including the decision to go there in the beginning.

Why not assert a more positive outlook? Just maybe, the entire middle east will no longer be a threat to the US, or anyone else. That's what I am hoping for.

Kennedy and Johnson were able to pass Vietnam on to Nixon, so I guess it's a possibility.

If he does, then I will be very angry.

I mean, how can something as vital and complicated as a stable Middle East region not revolve itself around our election cycle?

Sorry, it wasn't You can try as you might to make this an unnecessary action, but I think your time would be better spent understanding why we are there in the first place.

Nothing you say is correct. Also you are not showing respect. It is "Mr. Bush" or "Mr. President."
