I have to PCs, both Windows XP, connected via router using MS network. On both PC A and B I can see both computers listed in the HOME network. I can access all files on A & B from A, but I cannot access A files from a B PC; seems like a one way connection. I have run another setup, also went into sharing, and everything seems indentical on both PCs so I do not know why the connection works on one PC and not the other. Any suggestions on where else I can look would be greatly appreciated.

In order for both computers to see each other you must use the home networking features so the computer knows that the other computers are on the same network. It is much easier if they have the same operating system If they have diffrent operating systems that could be one reason why you are getting those results.

First start the home netowrking. Select the second options this computer connects somewhere else. ( Do not select that this computer connects to the internet other computer connects through me, that means you are setting up internet sharing.)

Try to keep them the same domain ex: MYHOUSE or HOME NETWORK You can have space with the domain. Next. Then enable file and print sharing. Once done you can use the disk to copy and runnin off the second computer or do the same steps.

The computers will now restart. Once it restarts and you open up network neighborhood. My network Places.... You should be able to go to entire network and see both PC. WHen you try to connect it might ask for a user name and password. * Only will ask if the computer requires a user name and password to sign in* If it automatically signs in without user name and password then it will just connect automatically.

I had similar problem, it is purely a Windows problem, for my case it is B trying to access A.1 and A.2 and I had Permission problem in access them, doing full permission fixed one share but not the other.

Windows will complaint doing such is not secure so not done without explicit command from you; kiss my behind, Microsoft. This is more grief for what I usually do.
