Hello, I am from Europe and over my life, I have travelled to India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, China, Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Philippines, USA, many european countries: non-white people tend to say that USA are racist or Germany, but it is nothing compared to India.
Apart from blatant acts of racism, the worse aspect is that racism is not fought against in India!! It is admitted and most of the people show racism on a daily basis, which would not be tolerated in Europe or other developed country (the media would investigate, the people responsible for racist actions would be punished, etc).
People need be aware that the worse are NOT necessarily the most powerful (USA). And if a non-indian goes to India, be ready to be treated as the worse of the untouchables! (by the way, it is interesting to note that the Indians are not even annoyed to be famous for that despicable social organization which would be decried in any other country!!).

I think the society is so classed based that anyone below them economically are really in their heads below in a human sense. My mother is a daycare provider in the US. An Indian couple brought their 4/5yr old daughter in (her parents are doctors), the little girl would try to tell my mother what to do - get me this, do that for me. There was no respect for her position as a caretaker only the fact that she was an "employee". There was another Indian child in the daycare and she told my mom, "In India they would never associate with my family or my child". It is probably what makes the country so hard on the non-elite and you can totally understand why they leave their own country, it's pretty sad.

I agree with Steady Diet of Nothing, Don't Type Like This. Capitals only go at the beginning of a sentence and when it's someone's or something's name. Anyway, I disagree. India is not a racist country, there may be racist individuals in it, but not everyone in India is.

Really?, what exactly did you see that made you comment about this. I find it strange because I felt the exact opposite when I lived there. For one, the first time in my life I saw Muslims, Hindus, Buddhist, Jains, Parsi and Sikhs all living together (some interfaith marriages too) in relative tolerance. If you are referring to the swastika symbol that you might see on doorways or clothing it was and still is a symbol of luck in ancient Hindu culture long before that other man made it a symbol of hate.As far a calling out nations for being racists what should we say about Israel? They have carried out their genocide against the Palestinian people and no one sees them as racists, and no one investigates or "punishes" them as you state.

There's no way I would ever go to that filthy country anyway but I just think there's to much media on been racist. Now im sure a lot of people watched big brother where that woman called the other woman a ..I suppose i'll try and be nice about this and just say the N word and she was kicked out of big brother. Now to me that was blatant discrimination against the person who said it because it wasn't said in a mean way and this one who was so called 'offended' by it has done nothing but bltch to other people and called them every name under the sun yet nothing gets done about it. Now why is it that when someone calls someone a bltch or bastrd no one thinks anything of it but when it comes to race everyone goes in an uproar? I tell ya, us white people ain't the racists round here, it's clearly the other way round.

I know the caste system in India is horrible. It is almost as bad as apartheid was in South Africa.Yet India isn't considered a racist country because there aren't any white people there to blame for it.

my philosophy is simple, good behavior rewarded, bad behavior punished.. So if you treat people good ..people will treat you the same way..

Years of British rule. Rule that taught them that lighter skin Indians are better than darker skin Indians etc. etc. The same reason why Africa is so messed up from being ruled by white European countries.
So yes,once again it's white people's fault.

I think it's because when somebody who speaks English calls a company for product support we tend to ask " Can I please speak to somebody who speaks English?" They seem to have a problem with that.
