I really struggle to do that, a lot of the time I just have to wait it out, although I find music a great help, and talking with people who care. It's the small things that pull me through - sadness may always be there in the background, but eventually, all the small moments of happiness begin to merge, and you start to feel ok again :)

If it's over a death of a love one person animal, keeping yourself busy & also allowing yourself to grieve & knowing when it's ok to move on in your life & not think if i don't be sad i feel guilty that I'm happy & its like i never loved them enough but thats not true you can only grieve for so long & your departed one would want you to be happy,
now if its over a broken heart from a loved one dumping you thats harder they say!!! But you still have to grieve & then theres a lot of anger
best thing is keep extremely busy & go for a run or long fast walk every day & take up a sport & volunteer work is good it will help the people & it will help you also!! Love hurts bad when it goes wrong but if its over its over & you have to put it behind you & in time you will love again if you are game enough to take the risk of being hurt again, BUT i would be once bitten twice shy :)

Firstly, I come to the realisation that sadness is only temporary and will pass.
I then focus on myself and not worry about trivial things in life.
Go for a long walk, take a nice long bath, talk to a good friend....Do these without thinking about your sadness.

I concentrate on the little things that make me happy such as a good book, seeing friends, doing somehting different or something I haven't done in a while. Try not to focus on the bad things and concentrate on your goals - you will be happy again :-)

go shopping
eat some more chocolate
have a hot bath with candles and scents
then i feel like i am th eomly person in the world and my sadness just floats away into space

Depends what type of sadness.
Spend time with friends and family who you enjoy being around, listen to happy songs, watch funny films, sounds daft but try smiling, it always helps me!

I don't know I have not been able to get over my sadness. Maybe in time I will, but for now I will just have to sit it out.
