With Santana you have a lot to be excited about. Best left hander of the century 2000-2007 I would agree if you leave Randy Johnson out of the discussion. If you go back before that you have Koufax and Spahn to deal with and Santana is not quite at that level. It will be an up-hill battle for Santana to win the Cy Young this year because there are so many other pitchers having great years, but he will win many more before his career is over.

No doubt he will have a great second half, but I can't see him beating Beckett, Verlander, Bonderman, Lackey, Haren, Sabathia for the Cy Young.

One of those guys is bound to finish of the season about as well as they have started, and be in the playoffs (this does count for Cy Young/MVP awards, however wrong that may be)

Its hard to think Santana won't win another couple, he is just too good, even if he doesn't win the award, a down year for him would still be top-5, thats impressive.

This year, maybe. He needs to continue his second half dominance like he always does. If Sabathia and Beckett keep it up, that will make it harder. I think the top three will be Santana, Sabathia and Haren. I think Beckett will fall out of the race. If Santana can get 13-14 more wins and only a couple of losses I think it's his. But Sabathia and haren are studs and I wouldn't overlook them. I think when Santana's career is over, I think he could have 7 or 8 Cy Youngs. He's one of the top 5 pitchers in last century, not just lefties.

particular, yet while Liriano might have stayed healthy you're able to make a case for him too. right this is one stat that asserts adequate, the Twins, which comprise final night have gained 21 rapidly abode video games wherein Santana starts off, that's insane. Plus the guy is a glass, he's familiar with while to alter speeds and can detect, he pitches, he does not throw. If he keeps to be healthy interior the direction of something of his occupation he can challenge Clemens for the main Cy Youngs in my technology besides.

About 3-6 I hope!!! I'm from Minnesota. He's doing well. Oh and he made a bet with the announcer (Bert Blyleven) on the way to a game and Johan Santana had to pitch a nine inning shutout and if he did Bert blyleven would shave himself bald. Johan Santana ended up winning 9-0 and he pitched all nine innings and through only 95 pitches! After the game Johan shaved him bald!!!

While I think he is the best pitcher in baseball, he is not having the best year. I think the AL Cy young winner will be either Beckett or CC Sabathia with Harren and Lackey also having good shots if they have really good second halves. Im pulling for Lackey(because he is an Angel and Im a huge Angel fan), or Harren(because he went to my high school!)

i think he would need to have a similar 2nd half of the season as he did when he first won his 1st Cy Young, going undefeated until the playoffs.

CC Sabatiha, Beckett and the A's staff are having too good of a year to overlook.

He has a great chance, no doubt....but I think it will either be Jeremy Bonderman or Justin Verlander.

It's possible, but as of right now, it looks like CC Sabathia might.
