My neighbor plays music the hole night not loud enough to call the police, I can't sleep. What should I do?

I to have the neighbors from hell. Never realized what it was like to have bad neighbors til these idiots moved in. The police has been called on them time and time again. They even found a bench warrant on the female and she went off to jail for 4 months. Now she is backkkkkkkkk. The male has a mullet, no teeth, pot bellied . He never wears a shirt and he has a knife scar on his arm as big as the map of Texas that he says his wife put it there. They have a six year old boy with a mullet and no teeth. Their fav 4 letter word is F--- and the . The street reeks of marijuana. Good luck with the police.

Your neighbor may be blissfully unaware that the music can even be heard. If he has never had any complaints, why should he think differently? Talk with him politely and tell him it is disturbing your sleep.

If that doesn't work, try this solution: white noise.

White Noise Definition

White noise is a sound containing a blend of all the audible frequencies distributed equally over the range of the frequency band. White noise is analogous to white light which contains all the colors of the rainbow together.


How to Use White Noise

Because white noise contains all frequencies, it is commonly used to mask other sounds. If you are in a hotel and voices from the room next-door are leaking into your room, you might turn on a fan to drown out the voices. The fan produces a good approximation of white noise. How does this "white" sound work and why does it mask out other noise?

Here is one way to think about it. Let's say two people are talking at the same time. Your brain can normally pick out one of the two voices and actually listen to it and understand it. If three people are talking simultaneously, your brain can probably still pick out one voice. However, if 1,000 people are talking simultaneously, there is no way that your brain can pick out one voice. It turns out that 1,000 people talking together sounds a lot like white noise. So when you turn on a fan to create white noise, you are essentially creating a source of 1,000 voices. The voice next-door makes it 1,001 voices, and your brain can't pick it out anymore. One thing to keep in mind when using white noise is that more is not always better - it is usually best to use just enough to help mask the offending noise, not completely overwhelm it.

(Personally, I turn on a fan, and that's all I can hear. It blocks out street noise and everything for me, but this will be more effective.)

Calling the police,can back fire. We did that many years ago..and after talking with the loud neighbors, The LEO came right up to our door to let us know he had talked with them! Things got really bad after that and we moved!

IF you hear it it's too loud, call the Police unless they are good neighbors and you can talk to them.

I had the same problem a few years back. I was respectful when I ask him to turn it down but he turned it up louder. So I hired two thugs who would do anything for 100 dollars. I paid them and had them have a talk with the neighbor. ( They looked like thugs one sees on T.V) They pretended to be my relatives. They said "Turn it down or we will turn you inside out". From that point on I had no problem. He moved out 6 weeks later. Sometimes street justice works. ( Note: In no way did I want his arms broke....These guys looked like dirt bags from hell). I just scared my neighbor.
