John the Apostle is known as the Beloved Disciple. However, this preference is based on his own account. The other gospels do not mention it.
The Apocalypse or Book of Revelation was written by John of Patmosa different John, around the year 68 or 69.

Since all of the verses in the fourth gospel that refer to the unnamed "other disciple whom Jesus loved" never say one word about John only those who engage in circular reasoning can conclude that these verses would somehow constitute evidence that this unnamed "other disciple" was John.
On the other had the Bible has plenty of evidence that proves that this unnamed "other disciple" was not John but despite the Biblical evidence to the contrary those who promote this erroneous, man-made tradition will continue to put their trust in their preferred non-Bible source that parrots this idea.
Just one example? FACT: the one whom "Jesus loved" was the first disciple to believe after the resurrection. And this fact differentiates him from the rest of the twelve (to read this article visit tdwjl.com and click the link, "First to Believe".)
The Bible says "he saw and believed" when he visited Jesus' tomb on the morning of the resurrection (which was before anyone even saw Jesus). Yet we know "the eleven" [that includes John] did not believe until much later that day -- until AFTER they actually saw Jesus. (See article for verse references)
The point is that the hand-me-down tradition that encourages people to add John's name to verses in which God's inspired writer never mentions John is contrary to the admonition that says "prove all things". Quite unlike John who identifies himself by name repeatedly in the Book of Revelation, the God inspired author of the fourth gospel went to went to considerable lengths to conceal his identity. Most assume that the traditions of men can't be wrong so they overlook the clear Biblical evidence. Instead one should search the scriptures to see if these things are so -- and if searched the Bible has sufficient evidence to prove that the non-Bible sources that attributed this work to John were involved in a case of mistaken identity. Whoever this person was the Bible evidence can show for certain that he wasn't John, the son of Zebedee.

Mark 9:a million refers to Jesus's transfiguration, the place 3 of His disciples observed Jesus in His glorifed state. Jesus became into attempting to make a piece of Peter that the way John might die is none of His employer. Peter became into attempting to evaluate with John, yet Jesus reported, what does it rely to you Peter? You do your job. each and every of the apostles are ineffective and in heaven.

It was John the Beloved, the same apostle that had been exiled to the Isle of Patmos and there he was inspired to write the Revelation of John, which became the final book in the Bible.

I happen to agree with Don W. My perspective comes from the King James Version. This version comes after the initial translation from Greek and Latin texts to the English language by John Wycliffe.
John Wycliffe, King James, Queen Elizabeth 1, King Henry VIII all have been excommunicated from the church just for the initial translation and the rewrites afterwards.
Edit; Beautiful representation Dakota.

Based on the following verses from John, it appears that John called himself "the disciple whom Jesus loved"
Joh 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.
Joh 20:2 Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.
Joh 21:2 There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.
Joh 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.
Joh 21:7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.
But...there's another verse that infers that Mary Magdalene was loved as well:
Joh 19:25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.
Joh 19:26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!
He wasn't talking about his mother and it's very unlikey that he was talking about the other Mary.
And what about this verse?
Joh 21:20 Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?
Who laid their head on Jesus' breast. It sounds more like something a woman would do than a man.

Mary Magdalene. You ask for Scripture but I don't believe the truth of this book from the perspective of Constantine's meddling. I have other sources and more convincing ones.
