Probably no years - and a small fine - the do good brigade will make sure of that.

How do you know he was a Drug Dealer ? Could he perhaps have had counterfeit DVD s or similar in the bag. By the way the police would charge any Drug Dealer if the evidence was sufficient and the person would be put before a Judge and Jury.

Cool your jets there Tex. You have already convicted the guy and you dont even know what the charge is.
"Drug dealer" is not in the penal code. Now, if you want to talk about drugs, what drugs? How much volume? Was it with intent to sell? Was it federal or state? Is he going to plead out? Is he going to rat someone else out? Was it a legal search?
Get the picture? The police dont do ANYTHING other than arrest and gather evidence. Whether or not he ends up in prison is a function of stuff that you obviously do not understand.

It sounds as though the drug dealing might not be all. He could easily be a money launderer too, by the sound of it. It is impossible to guess what will happen to him. There are too many imponderable factors. He could be charged with possession of controlled drugs, supplying controlled drugs and using his premises for the supply of controlled drugs. Normally someone like that appears in court with a long list of charges, most of which gradually get whittled away as his legal representative negotiates with the prosecution. How many years he gets depends on what charges are left at the end of the day and whether or not he pleads guilty to each of them.

It's nearly impossible to give an accurate answer to a question with so little facts. It depends what he got busted with, the quantity, and whether or not he had a gun. There are many factors that come into play. If it was marijuana without a gun the person might get six months. Any other drugs could get that person several years. As I said, there are a lot of factors that come into play and there's not much information to go by.

The real answer without people being silly is anything from 5 to 14 years in prison with unlimited fine if he had enough to be condered a dealer. I guess for cannabis as its only class C it would be the lower end of that scale, if it was his first offence.

Probably none as the prisons are overcrouded at the minute and the authorities are having to let people out to make enough room to imprison people who flout the smoking ban.It may sound sarcastic but anyone taking bets as to it happening

He may not get any time in prison at all. He may have to serve some time in the local jail. Laws on marijuana are not as strict as some may think.

Years? Probably none. He'll probably get a few months in a minimum security holiday camp with free sky TV, x box, pool, etc thrown in, and then released early with a few hundred quid in his pocket thanks to the bloody PC human rights brigade!
Sorry, was that too sarky?
