Have you tried like Midol or something? I always take Advil (Ibuprofen) It is a muscle relaxer and a pain killer. I use a heating pad. A really hot bath is nice too. Get the water as hot as you can stand it and then just soak in that. Also there is a product out- Therma Care- they are potable heating pads, there is one especially for cramps. You just stick it to th inside of your pants or panties and it keeps heat on your belly all day long. I love them. I wish they had them when I was a teenager- But now they are heaven at work.

Sometimes I will chase my Advil with a Pepsi, Caffeine is a pain reliever- but read the label of what you are taking- if it contains caffeine, then that is probably not a good idea. Midol and Pamperine many times contain Caffeine.

I have heard that Vitamin B helps too, but I have not tried that.

I had endometriosis, so I know how you feel. Aleve was the only thing that attempted to help, and it's the strongest anti inflammatory you can get OTC. Warm baths and heating pads seemed to help, but nothing ever made pain go away. I still get bad menstrual cramps, but they're manageable with these tactics. If the pain is that bad and it IS just bad menstrual crams, there are stronger RX antiinflammatories your gyno can prescribe. Mobic works AWESOME. Just a suggestion: you should ask about endometriosis. I had to go to like 9 doctors before anyone would consider that I had it because usually it's associated with middle aged women, not college aged so they don't think of it as a possibility. I also had dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea and horrible cramps that kept me home from school. Once they figured out that I had endo and I got treatment, I never had pain that bad again. Good luck.

things like stretching, eating chocolate, taking hot showers, using heating pads CAN help, the effectiveness depends on each person though. This is a sign of endometriosis, a problem that's very serious and can impact your fertility if not treated. There are tons of websites that give you information. Check out some of the symptoms and see if they sound familiar. If so, share the info with your mom so she'll realize this is serious, and not just you trying to get out of school or that you're not just overreacting.
A doctor will most likely prescribe a birth control pill. If you dont' like that idea, ask your doctor about Meclomen. It's an NSAID like Aleve or Advil but it does something extra, it makes your periods lighter. Less flow means less pain when it comes to endometriosis. The only way endo can be diagnosed is through a laparoscopy, but because of your age, they'll probably prefer to try BCP's first. I'm having my second surgery next week. Surgery doesn't stop the pain, it just buys you some time. The only cure for endo is pregnancy, oddly enough.
It's toally manageable if you take things seriously and keep open commuinication with your mom and your doctor. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. I'd even be willing to share my story with your mom if it would help for her to talk to someone who has this problem. nc_thakaali@yahoo.com

For right now you can try paracetemol and ibuprofen (sorry I dont know what aleve is but if it is either of these 2 you will need to wait til the minimum time between doses is reached) take both of these together (paracetemol 1g max daily) and it will definately give you some relief. For a long term thing you could see your dr or sexual health clinic about going on the contraceptive pill as it works wonders for reducing pain - I started on it when I was in high school for the same reason and that was like 16yrs ago :) :) :)

I am now off the pill as we are trying to conceive and yup Im getting pain again and paracetemol and ibuprofen work wonders for me along with the hot pack

Here's some things to try: stay away from all caffeine (in soda, candy, coffee), drink plenty of water before during and after your period, exercises on a routine basis, try midyol or pamprin (medicines for periods) instead of aleve. Make sure you are eating a healthy diet and remember to talk to your doctor about it when you have your next check up. Keep a record of you periods to show him/her...when they start, stop, when the cramping starts, stops. what kind of flow you have....the more information you gather the better your doctor can help. It will help if you have more than one or two months of information in a row as well. Remember we can't stop the world or our lives when we have our periods, but we don't have to be miserable either.

I also get these serious pains, it used to be so bad that my heart used to stop beating and had to go to hospital, then I was put on the pill and it helped me. After 5 five years on the pill I stopped using it due to personal reasons and I didn't get the pains anymore. Now I start getting them again and I make sure that for at least a week before I do not walk barefoot nor do I lean against anything cold with my tummy. I would sleep with a hot water bottle and drink Myprodols (painkillers), they work within 5 minutes and up to 1 hour. I hope something will help you.

Try the menstrual cramps section:

Try drinking a hot drink, the yoga exercises (stretching helps move the muscles around), warm baths can also help.
Good luck!

I have the same problem, honey. You might want to see if someone else can take you to the doctor. You might have endometriosis.....or the like. I find that walking / working out a bit really helps my cramps. When your sitting down sit indian style (legs crossed underneath you), that relieves my cramps instantly.

Why dont you get an IM shot of a painkiller?

Yes, stretching helps but you have to do it when you are not in your period and regularly, next month gets better
