What is art to you ? Your life, your passion or just a fancy thing?

...hey eric!

ART, in any form, that is visual arts, music, literature, sculpture, is an undeniable part of my life. Actually, music is my passion! this is my lifesaver, without it I would have been lost in this mad mad world!

I personally do watercolor and charcoal painting, i am learning acoustic guitar, and i have always been a book reader (fiction & non-fiction)...i collect quotes and sayings, i travel to different places, as much as i can, and all of these are expressions of art in my life!

So the saying goes, "It is art that makes life, makes interest, makes importance.. and I know of no substitute whatever for the force and beauty of its process".

I suppose it depends on what is meant by art. Writing is an art, as is acting and painting and sculpting and dance. My 'art' if I am capable of it is writing and I have written several magazine articles and a book. I couldn't call it my life because the pay sucks for most but it is a passion that I really enjoy. I think to most art is simply the ability to create and whatever the creation becomes it is art. Only a handful of people can claim it to be their life and few have a true passion for it since so many people have not found thier own gift or talent yet. I think most people appreciate art in some form but likely would not define it as you suggest.

Art is part of my life I guess. Just not the whole :). Its part of my life because its one of the great things I can do out of many. As you know I compose music and create animations (which is art). Plus I play the drums, guitar, and flute and they are all types of art. I wouldn't say its my passion because I dont want to be doing it the whole time and sometimes it can become a stress (its part of my career). Plus if it were considered my passion many other things would be as well because I enjoy other things as much or even more than art.

I'm having a hard time coming up with things, trying to say what art is to me. But if I had to pick one of those three words, I'd have to say "my life". I've been drawing since before I started school. And that's not all I do. I'm not that great an artist (although not that bad, either). But I don't care that much. I find true happiness in creating whatever I make, even if no one else ever gets a chance to see it.

Still, art isn't all my life. Although, it is a big part of it. There is more to my life. But if I lost that part of my life, I would surely lose a part of myself.

I will put art in a very high pedestral that you find too high reach it. For me art is what every human does in his life, whether it is doing work at home/ office or walking on the road, travelling etc. Every act of a person is a art when he does as if his life depends upon it.

It's not my life, per se. I don't make a living at it, although it's one helluva supplemental income. It is, however, a passion, and one that I've had ever since I discovered I had a talent for it. I've been a musician now for almost 40 years in some capacity or another. And, I look forward to many, many more years of being one. I just couldn't imagine my life without it.

Art is everything that makes life worth living. Art inspires, teaches, warns, and warms everyday life. Without it the days would be like living in a colorless vacuum. Art is the best of humanity.

To me, art is life. It's people, places and things in nature. It's beautiful...takes my breath away.
