Given the appalling atrocities which almost came to fruition within the UK over the past few days in the name of 'Allah', and given the history of Irish catholic bombers who caused a multitude of atrocities within the UK over the past thirty years is it not time that all religions were now banned?

It is not as if they are based on any facts. Many of the things which the churches used to tell us were the gospel truth, such as the age of the world only being 6,000 years old and the universe being created in a week as described in the book of genesis, have now been shown to be embarrasingly inaccurate!

Now that the government has banned smoking in public places should they now ban all religious practice in public places too?

Dear 'achrimsdale' if only you had bothered to read my question I stated that religious practice should be banned in all 'public places'.

If you want to carry on praying to your imaginary god in private then please carry on!

I'm not sure how well thought out your idea is, but i'd support it to the extent that religion is removed from all areas of the public sphere. Just as we can't tell people what to believe, it's the public's right not to be bombarded by religious messages unless they are actively seeking them.

I also believe that mixing religion with anything causes more problems than it solves. If we look at the UK's politics, we can see this in action in the religious discrimination act - this has more or less created George Orwell's "thought crime," of disagreeing with a religious point of view. In the long run I believe that it will increase social divisions along the lines of religion to a point where it becomes an "us and them" situation.

However, I want to make it clear that although I do not agree with the idea of religion, I understand that those who bombed the UK, whether Catholic or Muslim were a minority and had nothing to do with the mainstream ideas of their respective religions.

Hmmmmmm.... And what if He smokes? Who will enforce the rule?
It isn't necessarily the religion or practice/mispractice of it that causes problems; it is mankinds perversions and lack of problem solving abilities that cause problems including wars. The problems will remain even if religion is banned because it cannot be done on the macro (worldwide) or the micro (individual) level. Man needs to believe in a higher power and the dogmas and differences of religions follow. It is as natural and enevitable as the sun rising. The sun was set in the sky on the fourth day along with the moon and stars and the darkness and the light were divided. (or something like that, my apologies to Biblical scolars and Rabbis.) What do you suppose He was going to inspire some good human who still feared spontaneous combustion and clouds to write in order to begin a religion that could benefit mankind for millenia? "Now, see here, Moses, go down there and explain to your 700,000 people that they are to beilieve that I thought and the universe began expanding from nothing into nothing (which is what modern membrane theory postulates) and after a few billions of years.......eh?? what's that???? oh. a billion? well that's a 1 followed by nine zeros........how many lifetimes of your kind? Well, a few.....ummm hundred million or..... a million? well that's a 1.... oh never mind. Just write this. On the first day (one day maybe they will be smart enough to partially understand.......)"

I am a firm believer that religions separate man, not men and not God. No religion would be the ultimate paradise but very unrealistic. People without beliefs are dead in spirit. If there was only a fair way to manage the effects of religion. All religions not just a few that are in the news. They all have a like effect on the human race.

religion is the vestioges of quaint tribal ritual carried to fruition by fiction writers, all a $$$ scam for idiots! virgin births indeed!! hahaha! Hesiod wrote a chronology on virgin/god couplings and thier offspring 100 yrs before so called jesus. But its a good way to make $$ and keep the masses under control...thats why all UFO inquiry is stiffled they fear the world would be turned upside down if other entities were proven to co-exist in the vast universe. Must keep the natives under control you see!

proper. this is why the U.N has been so super at combating genocide international because of the fact this is first days. they'd't even get the international places jointly to help do away with malaria not to show human beings like Saddam Hussein. only blame it on faith to push an anti- God and united states of america message to something of the international. faith additionally desires to appreciate that self renovation of the society at entire is greater important the non secular rights in on the instant's international of terrorism. look at how Islam terrorist have not any problem with Hijab donning woman suicidal bombers anymore.

I have heard all of this before. The religion is not at fault it is the evil people who use it to further their own ambitions.
Just think on if it is not that it will be something else.

If you want to reject God that is your affair. As a Christian I am obliged to spread the word. I am not a preacher, just an ordinary believer who will make no secret of his beliefs

Why should I be banned from praticing my religious beliefs. I don't go round forcing it on others, either peacefully, by force, or by coercion. And I've never heard a priest put down any other religion. Regards to Catholics in Northern Ireland bombing, yes you are quite right, but it wasn't in the name of Catholicism. It was political to make a united Ireland. And of course it didn't make it any more right. And when these IRA thugs and murderers were shot or killed by the police or military I used to cheer! But I think they should clamp down on Islam in the UK, instead of cow-towing to them, and forever apologising.

Of course, ban all religions.

Then force it underground and start filling up football stadiums with all the ones arrested.

Make sure its all over the world too, and part of the war on terror.

Then if anyone is a religious terrorist, make sure you Brits bomb the country back into the stone age, make sure you do yourselves when you catch one of your own.

Before you know it, all you'll have is whats left of Britain and you'll own the world again like you did a hundred years ago.

Of course you'll need to ban:
Cats for dog lovers
Dogs for cat lovers
Beer lovers for tea totalers
Scotch drinkers for whiskey drinkers
motorcycle riders for car drivers
bus drivers for truck drivers
virgins for non virgins
dope smokers for non dope smokers (being done badly)

The list is endless

Hell, lets ban people who ban the banners!!!

Chop-chop and cherio and all the British crap --- along with America, love it or leave it........hell, I love it, but sure as hell do not respect it. I'll let you guess why.

Most reactionaries can't think past noon.

It is impossible to ban the religions... People believe in what they want... That is reliogion... But everybody should have they're own religion.. that why I don't approve none of the religions... Even if there is a god, that doesn't mean we have to love him, or that we need to go to search and pray every sundays... We should believe in god for ourselves....!
