Are Australian Truck Drivers given an unnessecary hard time?

Do you think the media or public in general seem to have a one sided opinion on truck drivers? Are they ALL cowboys? People are killed in car accidents on a daily basis, yet as soon as a truck is involved, is it automatically seen as the trucks fault?

I think that most people have a bad opinion of "truckies" the same as they have a bad opinion of other groups( public servants, police, telemarketers) Until you've worked in an industry, you don't really understand what it's like, and that there are many different personalities out there, some of them quite intelligent and pleasant people.
