Have you actually seen our borders? It is actually around four thousand miles of coastline!

A determined terrorist only needs a boat and he's in.
It's been the same for thousands of years.

The problem, I agree, is the enemy within.

The best we can hope for is to cut off any supply of high explosive like Semtex,or radioactive material so they can't make dirty bombs.

I do sometimes wonder about the lack of security at our smaller airports and private airfields though.

I think with help from the former Stazi or former Red Army, we could come up with a satisfactory barrier - or maybe not.......

It has been time since 911 and right now the ball is in GWBs hands he sees what the american people want but for some unknown reason he refuses to secure the border. It is time to put pressure on his *** just like we did the immigration bill I have been calling the white house daily demanding our borders be secured everyone there appears to be deaf but if enough callers start calling it will open their ears up. Americans are sick and tired of this ****.

You don't seem to know much about E.U. membership, The U.K. has no way to close its borders, the E.U. allows free movement of all E.U. members between individual E.U. states.

British efforts to control illegal immigration has always been dismal, hundreds if not thousands of illegal immigrants have entered via the south coast from Belgian & Holland, you have had countless thousands arrive from Commonwealth countries (as is their right) but it has been abused.

Many Kosovo asylum claiments never returned to their country after the Jugoslavian war.

The only way to combat this is identification cards to be issued to all people in the U.K. and all illegals deported within 48 hours of being discovered, they should be allowed no right to appeal if found to be living illegaly in the U.K. for over 1 year, or failing to apply for refugee status in the first E.U. country they came to (many want to come to Britain because the benifits are some of the best in the E.U.).

Pat and present British Governments are guilty for this mess, and there will never be a closed border Britain to keep the B.N.P. fanatics happy, the U.K. is a multi-Race culture and it will remain that way.

we only have 1 border (northern ireland next to ireland) and channel tunnel but i DO think we should close the border and tunnel until there is 1000% chance of no1 getting through ie just walk through the tunnel (yes that has happend a few years back)

Yes! but it's a bit like closing the stable door once the horse has bolted. We already have enough maniacs in the country to do serious damage. Perhaps if the borders were properly controlled in the first place this would not be happening to us now, this country (UK) has been sold down the river....Cheers Tony.

It is high time we had a visa system and screened out all criminals and undesirables and made full uk citizenship difficult to obtain. Any immigrant convicted of a crime or failing to support themselves should be deported.

It's too late, most of the terrorists are home grown. I think we need to have a serious discussion about how to stop those already here from committing acts of terror.

not necessarily, but we should arm ourselves because MI5 and the police are obviously useless at protecting us and good at picking up the pieces. If we could have guns as in the USA, we could shoot the muslim extremists on sight.
