Just finished Half Blood Prince (again) in preparation for Deathly Hallows in 3 weeks' time. Cannot decide yet whether to move on to Melvyn Bragg's 'Credo' or Richard Dawkins' 'Selfish Gene'. Both hold a lot of interest and good writing.

I have 2 on the go at the moment
A Killer in Winter by Susanna Gregory, which is the 9th book in the series of 13 she has written so far in her Matthew Bartholomew Chronicles. They are murder mysteries set in medieval times. I've read all 13 several times and I love them.
I'm also reading Four Weeks in May by David Hart Dyke. Its the story of the sinking o HMS Coventry during the Falklands War. My uncle was on the ship at the time. I know how we suffered back at home but my uncle has never spoken about what happened, ever to any member of our family. David Hart Dyke was the captain of Coventry and I wanted to know what he had to say about it from someone who was there.

I'm rereading The Northern Lights, the first book of the His Dark Materials trilogy. it is brilliant and has been made into a film due for release at Christmas. it's kind of like a harry potter for clever kids and was voted the third best book ever written by the British public a few years back (lord of the rings was first and pride and prejudice second). when i got to the end of the third book i was crying like a baby, its like the first time you saw e.t.

Dust, by Charles Pellegrino an archaeologist and palaeontologist of some note wrote this work of fiction in 1998. When the insects started to die, and the birds, just one natural event toppling into the next................truly fascinating and scarier than Jaws !!.
Note: Dr Pellegrino's dinosaur cloning theory provided the scientific basis for Jurassic Park.
I have just started State of Mind by John Katzenbach, set in the not too distant future, about a professor of abnormal psychology hired by the police to help them catch his serial killer dad !.
(Maybe I should seek professional help !!!)
