I grew up on Elton John and artists that sung songs that made a difference in my life. Am I so old that I cannot see what "Hip hop" and "Rap" has to offer?

Am I blind to they lyrics of those who demean women and promote violence in music, which the "artists" state is their right to sing about? An environment where white guys talk in Ebonics and succeed by having black people around them? Nothing wrong with integration, but black people should be proud of their heritage as well as white people.

What happened to "I love you" and "If I could buy a big house that we could live in"? "This is my song, and this one's for you".

Music is a personal choice. What one person likes another may not. Too old for Hip Hop? Only you can decide that. If you prefer older music, as I do, thats fine. If you like newer stuff, thats also fine. As for the Elton John songs, thy're great!

hip hop is poetry & whats on tv today about slapping tha hoes & BALLIN is tha commercial type of music that "sells".
HIP HOP artists are people liek: tupac, nas, common, papoose, lupe fiasco, immortal technique...
RAP artists are liek: jim jones, ying yang twins, lil jon etc..
hip hop is art. rap is just a trend.
