I grew up on Elton John and artists that sung songs that made a difference in my life. Am I so old that I cannot see what "Hip hop" and "Rap" has to offer?
Am I blind to they lyrics of those who demean women and promote violence in music, which the "artists" state is their right to sing about? An environment where white guys talk in Ebonics and succeed by having black people around them? Nothing wrong with integration, but black people should be proud of their heritage as well as white people.
What happened to "I love you" and "If I could buy a big house that we could live in"? "This is my song, and this one's for you".
