okay i just started pokemon pearl and my friend gave me a turtwig so that i could have all the starters at the start of the game. i have one badge, the oreburgh's coal badge. however one day at floarama i was fighting team galactic grunt and for some reason turtwig ignored orders and it used another attack. also there were times when he loafed around. whats wrong with the turtwig, is it because i obtained it through a trade?? my other pokemon obey me and they are a few levels higher than turtwig, and most of them are obtained through a trade too!!!

It is because you got him from a trade and with the other pokemon that do obey you, You've probably just gotten lucky. sooner or later (unless you get the next badge), they will disobey you. So to answer your question, there's nothing wrong with Turtwig. Just don't use him unless you have to and get the next badge then he should start listening.

You need badges to make pokemon obey you. Sooner or later, those pokemon will start disobeying you. I think if you get the 3rd or 4th badge, pokemon above 30 will obey you.

maybe it's because of that, there's a slight chance of obeying, but somethimes, if it's the pokemon you use the most then it might become obnoxious, also it might be due to it's nature, hope this helps

on another pokemon game if you dont have enough badges they dont respect you so they wont listen to you might be the same on that one
