I know they say the giraffee has less intelligenge and smallest brain -so whats the smartest and most intelligent animal/mammel. one thought was the whale or dolphin-not surethough

Other than humans, the tops are apes, toothed whales and pigs.
However on the top ten list you will also find, crows and ravens, octopus, elephants, parrots, dogs, some species of rodents and cats..... to name a few.

Coyote, I just ranked you top answer on another question and I have to agree with you again, to a point. I honestly believe that toothed whales (Orcas, dolphins, etc) are more intelligent than the Apes. Although 'tangs are very smart, as well as chimps and the Great apes. However, look into the eye of a whale, there is definately an intelligence there that we do not understand.

The smartest animal is Homo sapiens. I don't see any chimps asking questions.
There is NO way to measure any other animals intelligence. It is all subjective. You have to compare animal behavior to human behavior.
There has been a lot of very bad work done by people claiming to be animal behaviorist or psychologist. Unlike biologist, these people are not required to validate the accuracy of anything they do.

I remember watching an animal show talking about the 20 most smartest animals and I remember the first three.
The smartest one is the Octopus, then the Chimpanzee, and then the Dolphin.

Are you asking about smartness or intelligence? I'd put a zebra down for smartness. Very neat looking animals.
Orang-utans are usually considered to be th most intelligent, after humans. The whales and dolphins seem to be also-rans.

I believe by those standards, it would be the human being. Although I'm quite sure the next on that ladder is the dolphin followed by the Chimpanzee.
