My grandmother who passed away 13yrs ago. She was a inspirational woman who raised 7 children while her husband served in the war. The only thing she loved as much as her children was her grand children and great grandson. She had dignity, strength, compassion and love for all.
I would want her to see my twin daughters, I am the fourth generation in a row (on my mums side) to have twins but the first to have them both survive.
Mum miscarried my twin, my granmothers twins were still born & my great grandmothers twins were premi and didn't survive.
I feel that the jinx has been broken and I am so proud of my girls who beat the odds born 2mths premi.

As for why is it asked in applications it gives them insight into what things are important to you. You only have 24hrs to spend with your choice of person so the person you chose and why shows your values.

Wow, who would I want to spend the day with? Past or present person? It's a toss up between Mae West and Fanny Brice. Both worked in burlesque and vaudeville at the turn of the 20th century and became top comediennes by the 1920's. Fanny had a host of characters she'd play; Mae did a caricature/parody of herself. Mae was also a very independent woman who wrote outrageous plays and musical numbers which were taboo at the time. Examples: She wrote two comic plays, 'The Drag', focusing on drag queens and homosexuality and 'Sex', which speaks for itself. Fanny's characters ranged from a Jewish woman with a heavy, Yiddish accent to Baby Snooks, an endearing child with a very obnoxious, whine.
The WHY?: From the late 19th century up through WWII has always been a very interesting historical period of study and research for me. Where they began they're careers: Brooklyn and New York City, which is also very interesting for me to research. Too, they lived during the golden age of Hollywood, did radio in addition to films and they were independent women, who knew what was best for their careers.

I think that whatever company put this question on the application just wanted to see where you're coming from and to see how well you can communicate, via writing.

My wife. As she is everything in the World to me. My Spouse, My Lover, My Confidant, My Best friend in the World. Everyday spent with her is a blessing from God for me.
So if I spent a whole day with someone else instead of my Precious Wife, then I have wasted a good day.
No, I am not a weirdo, nor am I clingy, or do I have have mental issues. I have just found the one person in the World that I love doing everything with. She is my Soul-mate, sent by God Himself.

I would have loved to have spent one day with Katherine Hepburn. I always said I would write to her, but she passed away before I got around to it.

Kate Hepburn was a real down to Earth, get to the point kind of gal. She had a very sharp mind and wit, to the end.

. Just to tell her how I enjoyed her acting and all of her roles, and her autobiography, entitled " Me".
From now on when I say I am writing a letter, by gum, I write the darned thing!

Since it's an application form, I would choose someone in that field, or even a leader in that company, and give as a reason the desire to become really, really good in that work.

(Otherwise, J.C. -- Jesus Christ -- of course!)

I would have loved to be there with JESUS! Oh to see HIM, to touch his robe or just sit and listen to HIM speak would have been extremely awesome. No one in the universe compares to my LORD and Savior. I can't wait to see HIM for I know that the one that I will surely get to spend time with and even now do, is JESUS.

I choose JESUS because human beings are disappointing and no one is more important in my life than HE. No one is more truthful, gracious and loving than HE.

That would have to be Oscar Wilde the 19th century writer/wit - his writings and humour still stand up today. I think he would have been a fascinating person to have talked to and gotten to know - his writings still make me laugh.
