Just looked at the ER website. No mention of LUKA leaving!

There was a story on one of the entertainment shows that said this would be his last full season. They stated he would only appear in a few episodes next year.
He is the new bad guy in the next James Bond movie.

I have read that Luca will be back for a few episodes to tie up loose ends, but then will be written out of the show at his request.

At this stage we don't. I think it will somehow be written into the next series that he has gone and isn't coming back (for whatever reason). I think they'll probably kill him off (sadly) because i can't see him just deciding not to come back to Abby and Joe.
