i don't think that the arguing and going back and forth would be considered "turning us against each other." in this country you are allowed to disagree and argue and talk that is we do stuff, and thank god we are allowed to do that! but for the facts, we should always ask for facts, but even with the facts out there, the two groups will argue with each other because people see things differently.

because extremists on both parties will say and do anything it takes, even root for our country not to do well, to hold onto and gain more political power.
I agree with most of the platform of the republican party. It doesnt mean I agree with all republicans. I also dont think the party has stuck to it's platform. It has gone way too far left. I think the far far left have hijacked the leadership and the media attention of the democratic party and they drown out what a lot of its members really want.
I do think your comment on big money isn't necc correct. I hate when people bash corporations, esp when they are doing it while typing on their corporate made computers on a yahoo message board, which is pretty corporate. I recognize you did not directly bash them, but it was a bit implied. A company can throw as much money at a politician as it wants, but ultimately it is the politician that decides how to vote.
People do look at facts and sometimes they even look at facts that arent facts, which is the problem with a lot of people on some of these message boards. They think if its on the internet its more factual then turning on the news. Ha. The internet is under less scrutiny then major news networks so they dont have to prove their facts to be true, so they are prone to be more incorrect or misleading.
I love what this country stands for and I think if the rest of the world follow the values of the US Constitution then we would all be better off. It ticks me off sooo much when I hear politicians on both side bashing this country just to try to gain political points. It makes me even more angry when politicians seem happy when the US fails at something because they can then use it as a political stance. We should want the US to suceed and look good no matter who is the president or what party is in control.

I think boards like this, and other areas on the net and in the real world that attract political debate just give people a slanted view of political discourse in general. Any time political debate is going on, the requisite crazies come sprinting out of the wood-work to spew crap from both sides of the isle. They flood the market with their party's talking points, with the idea that the loudest and most annoying person will get the most attention for their side.
I think Americans by and large want to work together, and have been trying to do so under some very adverse conditions. The average republican and average democrat really aren't all that different from one another, just their approaches to solving certain problems. We all want a safe country, with a strong economy, good education, and efficient healthcare. We just sometimes disagree on the best way to go about it.
Keep faith, most people aren't nearly as polarized as what you run into here. The 'middle-ground' will always be the most populated category in this country, and I consider that a blessing.

were NOT on the same team, thats the problem here is a few examples
i know what is...is
i think lying to a federal grand jury under oath is still lying and should be punishable by JAIL and nothing less regardless of who you are.
i think the person who is being investigated by a special prosecutor ought not to have the power to fire them
the idea of cut and run is naked raw cowardice.
i think nothing is wrong, illegal or immoral about giving me more of what i legitimately earn i dont need to be taxed at confiscatory rates to pay for another failed welfare scheme.
i think you get my point. im sure a strong point of america is its diversity but the diatribe of liberal extremisms like the pelosi reid regime i will never ascribe to on the same"team". its to skewed and deadly both financially and otherwise.

The fact is the country is being run by the Federal Reserve Bank and their cronies. One of their tactics is to keep everyone busy hating each other so they can have the freedom to make more and more money to insure their power over all. Think I'm crazy?? Dems and repubs don't really matter. It's all a scam. We're being had. That said... go and buy your iPhone. sigh.

I think you both could use this to your advantage. Question. Have you both ever thought about running on the same ticket? Him president and you vice and next year you both can flip flop with running? I mean you both sound perfect but it isn't good that you go against each other.

It seems that too many politicians think they know what is best for us instead of doing the job they were elected to do. They don't seem to realize that cameras and microphones do more to antagonize us than placate us. America IS the best country in the world. We can shut up a lot of the loud mouths. Lets just vote them out of office and, to paraphrase Theodore Roosevelt, elect someone who talks softly and carries a big stick!

didn't you know that the gov, has been doing this ever since the Zionist got control?? as long as we are fighting among our selves we won't see what they are doing, You are so right we are or at least should be on the same team to preserve America and her institutions and to protect our people, but, our Zionist owned news media and T,V, propaganda machines plus our Zionist owned gov, wants to keep us busy fighting among our selves, had we not been so busy fighting among our selves then we could have prevented a multitude of sins committed by our Zionist owned gov,not only against other country's but to our own people they are constantly chipping away at our freedom. remember when our so called representatives pass a law that takes away a freedom from any one or group it will eventually affect the rest of us, and when you say so what it don't affect me, then the other side will say the say the same thing when they pass a law that will affect you,

The Republicans are running along the same course that they always have diverted, of course, by democrat interference.
It is the democrats that are crying out for fundamental change and it is the democrats that are in the process of trying to destroy our country. They are attempting to lead us down the road to socialism and that in of itself is un-American.

It's not the government it's the Republican Party. They've done their best to divide the country using false rhetoric.
Edit: Ruth below says English common law is false rhetoric. I don't believe that as a lawyer, she said that. English common law is the basis for much of American law! Students learn this on day one of law school, and I'm not exaggerating. Day one.
