as long as it is not illegal, what does it matter?
Gay, lesbian, straight, freak nasty, prude, what does any of that have to do with who a person is?

Life is a big deal, and people feel better when there are specific rules laid out for them.
If the biggest requirements in life are to:
-marry someone of the opposite gender
-have children
-raise children
-die
then there isn't too much room for uncertainty in the major aspects of life. However, when you start to poke holes in this tidy little formula, you wreck the whole purpose of being so narrowly defined. Then, your actions become a personal attack on everyone who chooses to live in that manner.
People want to feel secure and certain of their place under the sun, even when its a pipe dream. When you disillusion them, you threaten that which they treasure.

It doesn't matter, it has nothing to do with who a person is, and that is precisely why I don't care. However, to answer your question, it essentially comes down to insecurity. Not just with sexual issues, either. It's usually the reason anyone will choose to criticize anyone else for anything that has no effect on them whatsoever. Some people are very unhappy with themselves, and/or very scared and confused about their life, and it makes them feel better to point at someone else, and tell them that what they are doing is wrong, thereby suggesting that they are superior. Some people just need someone or something to demonize. An outlet for their anger and hatred. That's all it is.

I agree with you. My friends are a group mixed with gays, lesbians, and bisexuals, and one of my major issues with the government is what they do regarding gay marriage. I don't think it is right for people to criticize others for their sexuality. I don't agree with the people who are against anything that has to do with peple being gay because it is not their choice to be attracted to people that are the same sex as them. As long as people are not doing anything illegal (whether it deals with heterosexuals or homosexuals) why should others care what people do in their private lives? This is a country where everything is messed up and people need to realize that we can't keep the same views forever and at some point the country needs to think about what is right and wrong for the nation, not just individuals.

Because some people have this desire to know everyone else's business, even when it doesn't concern them in the least, and they fool themselves into thinking that in some way, shape, or form this knowledge will somehow affect their lives--especially concerning homosexuality. DEATH has expressed it perfectly, by the way. Exactly the way I feel.
Some people are a few cards shy of a full deck--remember that, now.

Youre forgeting that homosexuality was illegal in this country till very recently. in some states, so called sodomy laws probably still exist on the books. But yeah , its really nobodys freakin buisness. Its your body , your life, and your choice if you choose to fall in love.

People think that everyone should all be the same as they are, and if you aren't then they feel it is their place and their right to tell you so.
They also either don't have a life of their own or they don't know how to run it, so they try to run everyone Else's.

You are exactly right. I've never understood that. Humans as just nosey by nature I suppose. I sometimes feel that some worry more about what we do in the bedroom than other folks killing people.

Personally, I couldn't care less what goes on behind closed doors.
It's none of my business.
I don't go asking everyone what their sexual orientation is or what "Preferances" they have. That's just rude.
So for MY government to actually deny me my CIVIL EQUALITY simply because of something that is really none of their business seems so wrong it's beyond words.
