The British government has raised the terrorist threat level to "critical." . The critical threat level, the highest one possible, indicates terror attacks are "imminent".

The government is currently searching for known terrorist sympathizers who have evaded restrictive orders and are now on the loose in the UK.

It seems very likely that at least one of these lunatics will manage to carry off a terrorist attack in the near future.

The unfortunate reality of living in a civilized, modern, liberal democracy is that the freedom we enjoy makes us vulnerable to the actions of the violent, medieval, fanatics.

EDIT:I want to endorse what Richard P has said.

Neither Hitler's Luftwaffe nor IRA terrorists could break the spirit of the British people and this current lot of malevolent filth shouldn't be allowed to either.

Dont worry about it.

I lived and worked in Central London when the IRA was blowing the cr+p out of London.
I witnessed the Wimpy bar on Oxford Street explode - I was on a bus.

I can remember a dozen small bombs exploding in lamppost litter bins - and zig zagging across the road going home - just in case there were more!!

They put incendiaries in clothes on the racks in the Oxford Street stores and blew up pubs with off duty soldiers in Woolwich.
They blew up the household cavalry and their horses.
Then Harrods

They blew up everything from bridges to railway stations and telephone boxes - can you believe?!

As you know, they used car bombs to destroy the centre of the City of London and Canary Wharf (not forgetting Manchester).

Everyone I knew was extra determined to let the scum know we wouldnt be beaten - so we carried on working, travelling and partying throughout and thats what we have to do now - or they will have won!

PS Northern Ireland was a different kettle of fish and the people there have my respect and sympathy for the troubles.

Ask the conspiracy theorists - they know the answers to everything (usually after the event, though, which isn't a lot of use)

Hey Richard P. I was working in an office on Oxford St the day of the Wimpy explosion and we heard it. Of course our first instinct was to rush to the window to see what was going on - the police outside quite rightly went apesh*t!

Unfortunately, there is always the threat. Don't let it get to you. Just carry on as normal. Terrorists hate that........
