No. Toxic shock syndrome can kill you. Wear a pad at night.

Actually, the lighter the flow, the better chance of things like TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome). It is not a good idea to leave a tampon in more than 8 hours. I actually know someone who got TSS from having a tampon in too long, and she nearly died.

It is okay to leave a tampon in while you are sleeping. Chances are you won't sleep straight through the night while you are on your period, and if you do, I want your secret, lol. You should change your tampon right before bed, and first thing when you wake up in the morning. If you get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, change your tampon, even if it's not full yet.

NO! it is not safe to leave a tampon in for more than 4 to 6 hours. You increase the risk of TSS.
A pad can be worn over night...or maybe the Diva cup or an Instead cup (they can be worn for longer periods of time)

good luck!

I thought they weren't supposed to be left in for more that 4 hours. If you don't have a heavy flow, I'd go for an overnight pad. But to answer your question, I have slept with an tampon on but I never sleep for more than 6 hrs.

overnight is usually okay, but aside from the toxic shock risk, if you are at the tail end of your period--leaving it in for too long could help you forget its there, and cause an awful infection, refered to as a retained tampon. it causes discharge, a horrific odor and needs a strong course of
antibiotics. So as long as you are on top of things and remember to change right before bed and when you wake up you should be fine. Also remember the purpose of a tampon is to absorb liquid, if you leave it in too long it could not only absorb the blood but your natural lubrication, making intercourse very dry and uncomfortable for up to a week after your period. --c.

You should not leave it in that long. If you put a fresh one in right before you go to bed and remove it first thing in the morning it is ok but if think you will sleep longer than 8 hours then use a pad or a menstrual cup.

No way.

The pamphlet that comes with the tampons state do NOT leave it in longer than 8 hours.

You will be at risk for TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome).

Yes and no. I know from reading the pamphlet that you should change them often. But, I also know from experience that it hasn't hurt me. There are times that a tampon is in longer than 8 hours, but only by a few hours. There is a chance that you could get toxic shock or some kind of vaginal infection if you leave it in for DAYS. Which is honestly just gross. Don't stress it for a few hours too long but try not to forget its there.

They should be changed often like at least every 5 hours at the most to avoid toxic shock syndrome.

It's not a good idea because it can put one at risk for infection and also the possibility of Toxic Shock Syndrome.

I would recommend checking with your dr as well to see what they say.
