I really would not care one way or the other. I try not to live my life to satisfy others but to satisfy myself. That does not preclude me from being a good and generous person. Nor does it preclude me from satisfying or disappointing others.
If I have disappointed anyone it is their problem, not mine.

Thats a very strange question. Generally speaking perceptions of people differ. What one like may not be liked by others and vice-versa. So the question of being disappointment to anyone does not arise.

Yes. I should say. To my wife.

Rightly or wrongly , people have expectations of others. Possibly this is based on the various inputs they get and their own assessment. The person , from whom this is expected is totally unaware of the expectations of him/her. A strange thing happens when the expectations are not met. While we are able to comment about expecting too much from the others , when OUR OWN expectations seem unjustified or not met we tend to find fault with the person from who we expected too much.

I feel this is what has happened with my wife and tell her too. May be over a period of time she ahs toned down her expectation but that ...... feeling contines . I certainly feel I am a disappointment.. I feel sad .

Of course I am - to many known persons and may be to numerous unknown people.

This is natural, no one IS perfect and CAN NOT BE perfect. Disappointments come from expectations and try as hard as you can, but you can not meet expectaions of EVERYONE. Reason: everyone is different, groomed differently so perceives differently.

Contrary to your (faint) expectation, I am not disappointed to myself (barring, of course, some of the times) because I do things with reason and logic. If others are disappointed to me let them be, it's their loss.

i've noticed that people tend to say "you've been disappointing me"...when you fail to do something that they wanted you to do......even if that would have been something bad.
So...under this light..i think that i've might have been a disapponted case.....Sometimes what they call "disappointment"..is was you thought is was a good thing to do at that time...they thought otherwise and so on.
I guess you know you really are disapponting someone...when you feel bad in your heart..and you have that feeling of "i wanna say i'm sorry"......everyone who ever felt this...has disappointed someone...i did.

My parents. My brother has this 'fantastic girlfriend' and the two of them can do no wrong. (They fight all the time and are on the verge of breaking up) Flip side, my husband and I have been together for about 7 years, and we do everything wrong.

Many many people. They all think I am an underachiever. I agree with them. Be it teachers, employers, or family and friends. All expect more than is delivered.
