Ok so my uncle owns a cattle ranch in new Mexico. So anyways a few days ago he caught some guy loading up his cattle on a semi trailer.

It turned out the guy was from Mexico he was illegal he stole the truck from a truck stop in Texas and also had a Fake drivers ID.

So my uncle shot him and killed him for trying to steal his cattle which is legal.

Do you agree with this?

Note my family has a rancher background and I think it is justified the shooting it is.

This is the 3rd time its happened in the past 16 years.

Doesn't shock me and your uncle acted well within his legal rights. It is too bad that he couldn't hang the body from a tree as a warning to other rustlers like in the old days. Your uncle sounds like the kind of man I would be proud to sit down and have a beer with.

One cannot expect a government official to get out there any time soon, holding the person at gun point without back up is a danger that is not part of the rancher job description, and waiting means nothing is done since the Mexicans will do nothing and the guy would be long across the border before anyone got there, so, no (and it makes no difference who is doing the rustling). Ranchers have certain police powers precisely because they are in the middle of nowhere and on their own.

That's tough. If your uncle feels his situation and environment is that hostile that he feels he has to protect himself at all cost like that is bad.
However, no one can blame a starving man for stealing to feed his family if that was the case.
I would try and work something out for both before killing a man. So with the limited information I would disagree.

yes I am for borders, language, and culture.

I don't think it's right since it doesn't seem according to your story that his life was in danger, and therefore you can't consider his actions self-defense. If it was possible for your uncle to subdue him in a less harmful manner, he should have.
