I used to love watching those races before the cart - irl split. Now the competition and drivers just seem pathetic. It seems they are trying to promote horrible drivers to identify with the public (Danica) to get the numbers back up, but it is more interesting to watch public television than an IRL race.

IRL loses all its young talent to Na$car because of MONEY! Which means the quality of racing falls off and it slowly dies!

IRL sucks? Have you been to the Indianapolis 500? It's the greatest sporting event ever! Sit in the infield along the backstretch, it's a huge blast. Yes it'd be great if IRL and Champ Car combined, but really, how many drivers is that combined? TO MUCH! Danica does need to quit the stomping baby drama! She envys Dan Wheldon. If you like NASCAR going around in a circle what's wrong with IRL? you have to want to make yourself watch it. Give it a chance. Go to the Indy 500, or a IRL race period, get PIT passes, autographs, etc. The experience is amazing. On the couch and being critical is easier than sitting in an Indy car moving at 200+ an hour.

Because of what you had mentioned. The CART/IRL split hurt US Open Wheel racing bad. The talent that would of been pooled up in one league, instead, got spread out into 2 leagues, and when you race a series that traditionally fields about 25-30 cars a race, a split will significantally weaken and water down fields.

The only way Open Wheel racing in the US can heal is that CART and IRL bury the hatchet, get over their egos, and merge back together.

I love open wheel racing...but I agree...stop diluting the field with cart, IRL, etc.... the Hulliman (sp?) family screwed us all when the started the IRL....did you see the stands at Richmond.. EMPTY.....

i agree compleatly, and thre reason it was better as the pph/fedex indy car series was 25 to 30 cars for each oval
and the fact that they would race roughly half and half oval road corse, less ovals ment higher quality ovals, plus you had a road racing car running on the ovals so they wher quick and agile, as opposed to now where the irl runs an oval car on a road corse (yawn)

Turn the channels if you don't like it. Different tracks bring out different talent. Most of these drivers are road racers not roundy round drivers
