Nice idea, but would we have any appreciation for what we had if that were the case?

Sure. Kind of violates basic economics though. If it takes say 17 hours of labor, not counting materials, to make a car for example, and it only sells for $1, how many car companies will continue to make cars if each one costs them $85 plus materials to make, but they can only get $1 for it?
Nobody would have a job to make ANYTHING, since there wouldn't be any way for the employer to pay them. And if you did happen to have some money left from before when you DID have a job, there wouldn't be anything to buy with it since nothing would be being made.
But other than those little drawbacks, it's a great idea.

I strongly disagree. Supply, price, and demand, three very simple concepts can prove why not. Businesses have to keep these three concepts in mind so they can make a profit. If they don't make a profit they won't have enough money to make new products or make innovations on products. Basically when supply goes up, demand goes down and vise versa. When supply goes up price can go down and when supply down the price can go up. A business has to do market research to see what combinations of prices and supply will give them a high demand and when the demand and price are at the highest point, profit will be the highest. Also in Canada I think minimum wage is $7.95/hour so because of inflation this is equivalent to $5/hour a few years ago.

I think we should at least get ten bucks an hour and everthing could cost 2 dollars.

Me too!! : ) but oh wait isn't that sort of like communism. Never mind i changed my mind. I want $20 bucks or more per hour no matter what my job may be.

I think we should all work together so that we all could have what we want. Why one person should have 12 cars while one village has one goat makes no sense to me!!
