I'm building a dollhouse. The scale is 1/2 inch= 1 foot. What is the equivalent using the metric system? A lot of the companies I'm looking at online are not in the U.S. and I'm not sure which scale to use. Thanks for the help!

2.54 cm per inch. 1.27 cm = 1 foot. or 1.27 cm=30.48 cm There are kinks in all of this, for they have had real trouble getting metric to catch on in places like Texas. Very difficult to convert metric to shiltoads. See an architect scale..

Not being a doll house enthusiast, I'm not sure what is available.
I would consider the scale ratio.
Since 1/2" to 1' = 1/24 scale (1/2" = 1/24 of 1 foot) you may want to just consider the scale.
I know that 1/25 scale is common in other types of model building and that is so close you may not notice the difference if you mix the two scales together in one project.
The metric system uses a decimal basis for all measurements so I doubt a 1/24 scale is available in metric.

That's a 1:24 scale. That means that if you take any measurement on your dollhouse, in any unit, metric or otherwise, and multiply it by 24, you'll have the real-life dimension in the same unit. It works backwards too.

One-half an inch equals one foot (12 inches) is a ratio of 1 to 24. It's unlikely that you would get blueprints with such a ratio, as it's not based on a power of 10 or divible by 5. You might get blueprints where 1 cm equals 25 cm (cm = centimetres).

1/2 inch in metric is exactly 1.27 centimeters

1 foot in metric is exactly 24*1.27 centimeters = 20.48

You are dealing with a ratio of 1:24 (the doll house is 1/24th full size scale)

So, if you are dealing with metric parts, this would be a scale of about 4.167 centimeters to the meter.

½ inch = 25.4mm ÷ 2 = 12.7mm (1.27cm)
1 foot = 12 x 25.4 = 304.8mm = 30.5cm

Therefore ½" to 1 foot = 1.27cm to 30.5cm
(12.7mm to 304.8mm).
