Statements like this really get on my nerves, it just proves how some people seek uniformity, and embrace conformity. I love clubbing I've seen various dancers and traveled to different genres of clubs. And I’ve observed that people that dance, just dance. Dancing isn't about people all doing the same things, and making the same shapes with there bodies, and feeling the music in the same way. I know I feel the music differently depending on my mood, alcohol consumption, and so on. So what if Asians dance different to White people and white people dance different to black people, and Africans dance different to Cubans and Irish different to the Germans. Who's to say what’s good or not. My major problem with choreography today is the lack of imagination being shown.

i have a few really white friends that can dance like anything, but yet, i have had this conversation with them...i can not dance....if it meant saving my life, i could not hold a rythm in my step...i practice all the time....i think it may have something to do with puritanism....there were a few points in white history where dancing was unacceptable and i think it may have mutated our genes...as i said, i do have white friends that can dance well, but i do see them as the exceptions...i started questioning this when i saw a movie that takes place around the world with many cultures...it is not a movie with script or dialogue, but it is very beautiful...it follows people in various cultures in very random everyday settings just breaking out in song and dance...it is something that just happens with other cultures...frequently....but, not ours...we only wish....if and when you find the scientific answer....e-mail me....it has been on my mind recently

Its all about heritage, history, and enviroment. when African americans where slaves they danced and sang (whenever they could) it was the only thing they had to do for entertainment. In Africa they also sang and danced for their own amusement. They keep thier heratage alive and pass there heratage down.
For example: The first americans (whites) were very conservative, and softspoken coming from england and all, dancing as an African would have been
considered barbaric, if you will. So over the years we have been considered more humble of most races as for African Americans more free spirited like thier anciesters. After a few more hundred years all races will act, dance, and speak much more alike due to slight changes in how the generations grow up.
EXAMPLE: pilgrim women would not be cuaght dead wearing pants or a mini skirt for that matter, and African women would not be cought dead wearing a sweater and jeans. but now we are so much alike. The white man will learn to dance one day, untill then leave it to the african amaericans.

Whites created most of those dances. I never saw that many black people that can dance, they seem to just shake there butts a lot. I doubt you are a choreographer or else you would have known this. You seem to have an inferiority complex

Just speculation, but...
Maybe its genetics? Caucasoids come from places where dancing isn't as common as other things. They are uptight about erratic movements and prefer socially acceptable repetitive dance moves. Negroids, (and by the way, before you thumbs down me, look up the definition of the word, and you'll see it is a scientific term) come from cultures where tribal dance is not only socially common but sometimes necessary, as a means of communication or prayer. Indians, African Cultures, Mexians, Hawaiians, Caribbean folk, all have widely known dancing skills, styles and rituals.

All music and dance originated from Africa. It's in our blood to excel in everything creative because of our ancestors.
Even Christina Aguilera has a black choreographer.

LOL. I'm white and I can dance but it is not in the same way. I think it mainly has to do with whatever culture you are in and what you grew up with. We don't really have dance incorperated with ANYTHING.
***how DO you do that booty roll thing?? I love it.:))
