Over the past 200 years (a tiny fraction of human history) torture, public execution, slavery, labour and sex exploitation of children have been outlawed by developed nations. Why is it that religious use of children continues unchallenged?

1-I am not persecuting religion.I believe an adult has the right to choose a way of life. I'm questioning whether a child should be pushed into it.
2-Why are sex and physical abuse the exception?
3-In extreme Islam, bombs are strapped to children therefore harming them.
4-Does telling them the earth is 10 000 years old 'nourish their brain'?
5-George W. Bush is a devoted christian. How has this made him a better, more moral person?
6-Your child will be permitted to choose religion for himself? Sure, after you've been taking him to church ever week since the day he was born.

Does this sound familiar: "Johnny, do you know you could die in your sleep tonight? If that happens, you will burn in the lake of fire for eternity. Your only hope is to chose god. What's it going to be Johnny, chose now."

I have my personal religious beliefs but as a parent I have chosen not to force anything on my children. When they are old enough to make their own decision on their beliefs I will support them no matter what they decide. I believe every parent should be that way. Just my opinion though.

Propaganda, no. Teaching, yes. It's a parent's obligation to teach their children. If a parent does well, then the child, after reaching adulthood, will be wise enough to make their own decision in religious actions.

Children are not harmed by propaganda in any form if they have parents who will find the time to explain to them the rights and wrongs. Propaganda is dangerous to a child if it can't discuss it with a liberal grown up

because the [right] goal of a religion is to provide morals, which they do believe it or not, to leading a good life. if you look at almost every religion they almost all have the same morals or "laws" to live by. the only major differences are the beliefs, rituals, and the life after death questions etc.

now i say screw beliefs and rituals. why cant parents just teach their kids to be a kind and compasionate person without the religion.

Children should be raised according to the wishes of their parents without any sort of government intrusion. The only exception should be physical or sexual abuse... and a simple, open-handed spanking is NOT physical abuse.

Religion is not dangerous to children and in fact still considered good for their development. Thus, children are not prohibited against religious propaganda unlike, pornography and violence that have direct bad effect on them.

How are you going to stop them from being exposed to religious or any other propaganda? It's gonna happen. Nothing you can do to stop it, unless you lock them up. Just nourish their brains(bodies) to help them to be able to think critically.

Parents can tutor their children in their home or the church....it's their right.

But not in schools supported by MY tax money, nor on public buildings, nor anywhere else in the public pervue.

Religion should be confined to home and church...period.

Doesn't matter, Propaganda is everywhere...at somepoint they will have to face it anyway. Freedom of Speech and Freedom of religion it is just fine if someone wants to advertise their religion in a slightly aggressive way.

Let's put it this way.

Children should not be prevented from being exposed to religious propaganda.
