How do I make a better wireless signal between my USB adapter and my router?

I use a Netgear Wireless USB adapter for my laptop. when I want to play an online game, it usually drops me from the game immediately. i can surf the web fine but how can i play online games (like starcraft) without dropping out from the game?

There are many things you can do. Some are:

-Lessen the distance between the router and computer
-Purchase a high gain omni directional antenna and connect it to your router
-place the router, or routers antenna, as high up as you can get it, above 6 feet off the ground is the best.
-make sure your usb adapter is not hidden behind the computer. purchase a usb extension cable and place it higher then the computer.
